GREAT Lakes Dredge & Dock Corporation, a US-based dredging services provider, has won a $35-million contract from Bahrain’s Ministry of Works for reclamation work at Hidd.
The contract encompasses phases one and two of a development project within Hidd Port, the company said.
Under the contract, Great Lakes will dredge 5.8 million cu m to build a 156-acre footprint on which a factory and additional facilities will be built. Great Lakes plans to use three hoppers and one hydraulic dredge to complete the project on an expedited timeframe.
Phase One of the project has a target completion date of late autumn this year while Phase Two will be completed by the end of the first quarter next year. The company said it will mobilise immediately to commence work on the project.
