The Makkah construction site.

PILOSIO, a leading Italian player in the market for building and construction equipment, has signed a contract for
the supply of temporary structures for a massive construction site in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

Pilosio’s partner in this operation is the scaffolding and formwork division of Arabian Roots, a major building products distributor in Saudi Arabia.

Under the Makkah contract, Pilosio will supply a huge quantity of Magnum Plus model vertical formwork, Simplex table and linear flooring systems and MP multidirectional structures for the construction of three major buildings intended to serve the northern area of the Al Haram mosque.

Magnum Plus is a modular system of formwork for large areas. “Magnum is the ideal solution for construction sites of large sizes ensuring a high level of productivity even under the most difficult conditions,” said a spokesman for Pilosio.

The system is made up of a 240 by 300 cm base or reinforced panel, equal to 7.2 sq m with only four through-puts for opposing tie-rods and only two connecting blocks.

On completion of construction, the first building will comprise 17 floors covering an overall area of 106,000 sq m. It will be 111 m tall, of which 80 m will be above ground. The 20-storey second structure will comprise a total area of 154,000 sq m, with a height of 120 m, 97 m of which will be above ground. The 15-floor third building will comprise a building area of 72,000 sq m and will rise to 101 m, 87 m above ground.
