The ByJet Smart ... cutting innovation.

FOLLOWING the launch of its ByVention laser-cutting system in 2006, Bystronic has ventured further into the mid-range with its ByJet Smart and Xcel 50 pressbrake designed for the waterjet cutting and bending market segments respectively.

ByJet Smart is an economical, high quality, and compact waterjet cutting system, that incorporates a number of innovative features.

“One look at ByJet Smart makes it clear that performance and quality are not related to price,” says a spokesman for the Switzerland-based manufacturer.

With the machine, he claims, the customer benefits both from a low purchase price and from reduced operating costs, as its new high-pressure pump is highly efficient and operates very reliably so that the service interval are longer. Furthermore, the machine design is robust and concentrates on essentials thus guaranteeing favorably-priced maintenance.

The spokesman points out that while offering the product at an economical price, Bystronic has not compromised on its quality. It is equipped with numerous high-end components, amongst them the innovative cutting bridge fitted with a linear motor. Other examples are the excellent cutting head with reliable height sensing and the precision manufactured machine frame, he says.

“High-end materials such as the heavily damping composite material used for the machine frame and the intelligent material combination for the torsion-resistant cutting bridge, underline the Swiss focus on quality. This is also reflected in the first-class workmanship and assembly of the machine. The result of this smart combination of a proven concept and innovative technology is a durable machine with an outstanding cutting performance, which can be increased further if required with additional productivity-improving components,” says the spokesman.

Another aspect of ByJet Smart is its compact size. “The well-conceived architecture of the safety concept, the optimal arrangement of all the elements, as well as the reduced overall size of the key components, all ensure a minimal footprint. At the same time, care has been taken to ensure that the machine can be easily accessed from several sides.  Being compact, ByJet Smart can be easily and rapidly assembled, dismantled and transported,” explains the spokesman.
Bystronic Group management member Michael Merkle claims that ByJet Smart uses innovative materials and technology that have never before been used in waterjet cutting materials, which give it an edge in the market and place it way ahead of its competitors.

With this product, the company is targeting newcomers to the waterjet cutting business, metalworking companies that want to extend their existing processes and the traditional laser cutting customers who want to cut thicker aluminium or non-ferrous metal.

Meanwhile, Xcel 50 pressbrake is also compact, enabling it to fit into the smallest free corner and thus saving on valuable production floor space. The product has already gained an excellent reputation in the Asian markets, where it was launched earlier.

“An outstanding characteristic of Xcel 50 is its price/performance ratio. Reliable Bystronic technology ensures very good bending results with consistent quality over the complete length of the bend,” says the spokesman.

Additionally, machine operators benefit from the convenient operation of Xcel 50, right from the simple handling of the tool system through to the front work piece support for efficient material handling, and to the numerical control which is clearly structured and ensures simple programming. Once a programme has been created, it can be called up again at the press of a button.

Furthermore, the effective laser protection guarantees the safety of the machine. In addition, it features an attractive design that set Xcel 50 apart from its rivals.

With its press capacity of 50 tonnes over a bending length of 1,600 mm, Xcel 50 is suited for thin and small parts as well as medium batch sizes.

“It is the optimal choice for the rapid implementation of simple bending applications,” concludes the spokesman.
