A project using Rezayat rebar.

SAUDI Arabia’s Rezayat Protective Coating Company (Rezayat Procoat), a specialist in the production of fusion-bonded epoxy coated steel rebar (FBECR), will be promoting its star product at this year’s gulfBID event.

The company, which has been serving the market for close to two decades, reports that business has been “excellent over the past year”.
“We have expanded our market with better capacity utilisation,” says Riyadh S Al Homoud, general manager at Rezayat.
The 100 per cent Saudi-owned company has a production capacity of 100,000 tonnes per year of fusion-bonded epoxy coated rebar. The coating is applied according to ASTM A 775 standard to ASTMA615 Grade 60 deformed rebar in straight 12-m lengths. These rebar, in diameters ranging from 8 mm to 40 mm, are procured from Hadeed, a subsidiary of Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (Sabic).
In addition, the company has rebar coil straightening and cut-and-bend facilities. Rezayat also offers coated wire mesh.
“Our coating prevents corrosion of steel rebar in the saline atmosphere of the Gulf region,” says Al Homoud. “The advantage of coated epoxy powder film is that it eliminates the contact between the steel bars and corrosion agents that exist in the surrounding environment, such as moisture, chloride and industrial chemicals. This protects the steel from corrosion and extends the life time of structures.”
Established in 1992, Rezayat is part of the Rezayat Alireza Group of Companies, a major business group in Saudi Arabia and Middle East. It has its head office in Al Khobar, while its plant is located in the Second Industrial City of Dammam. In addition, the company has a branch office in Jeddah. The company employs 150 people and has an annual turnover of SR200 million ($53.4 million).
Rezayat is an approved supplier of FBECR to several large companies in Saudi Arabia such as Aramco, Sabic, Saline Water Conversion (SWCC), Saudi Electric Company (SEC) and the Royal Commission of Jubail and Yanbu.
FBECR produced by the ISO 9001:2000-certified company are widely used throughout the kingdom and overseas in the construction of buildings, highway bridges, culverts and tunnels as well as on several major industrial and commercial projects. One of the largest projects it has supplied to over the past two years, is a sulphuric acid plant, Maaden, under a contract worth SR23.5 million.  Its other recent projects include Sharq’s third expansion, Tasnee, Saudi Kayan, and Jana Hassad project.
Major Saudi projects that have used Rezayat coated rebar include the Ghazlan power plant, Sabic headquarters, Yanbu desalination plant, Yanbu PTA aromatics plant, Abqaiq wastewater treatment plant, Dhahran International Exhibition Centre, Shaybah oilfield infrastructure and pipeline project, Ministry of Defence building in Riyadh, Dar Al Youm building in Dammam, Ras Tanura Refinery (upgrade), Saudi Steel Pipe’s plant expansion, Aramco substation in Ras Tanura, Kemya’s linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) plant in Jubail, Prince Nayif commercial building, Middle East Power Company in Dammam, and ABG School in Qatif.
