G force back in Bahrain

Royal patronage ... the Premier at last year’s edition.

A REMARKABLE line-up of 200 participants will set the stage for gulfBID, gulfInteriors and Gulf Property Show 2014, the Northern Gulf’s leading construction, interiors and property shows, which will be held in Bahrain next month (May 6 to 8).

The three shows, which will spread over 9,600 sq m of exhibition space at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre, hope to build on the positive sentiment in the region’s construction, interiors and real estate sectors sustained by healthy economic indicators and the prospect of billions of dollars’ worth of new projects on the horizon.

The 3 Gs, as they are termed, have captured the imagination of exhibitors and visitors alike, says Jubran Abdulrahman, managing director of Hilal Conferences and Exhibitions (HCE), the organiser of the events.

“The three shows provide a unique one-stop shop for the construction, real estate and interiors sectors. They allow the visitor to buy a property, build it or look at repairs and renovations and plan the interior décor – all at one venue.”

As in previous years, this year’s show too will be patronised by His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister of Bahrain.

GulfBID, the premier show for the construction and building industry in the Northern Gulf, will be held in Hall One of the BIECC.

“We are certainly thrilled with the tremendous response for gulfBID 2014 that establishes undeniable interest in the show’s ongoing value proposition, which we strive to recognise for all exhibitors and partners,” says Abdulrahman.

“What is particularly encouraging this year,” he continues, “is the number of Bahraini companies, in association with Tamkeen (Bahrain’s labour fund), that continue to put their trust in gulfBID as their B2B networking and promotion opportunity of first choice. We look forward to establishing a close rapport with all exhibitors in what we hope is a continued profitable relationship for them with the show.”

GulfBID, which was launched in 2006, continues to bring top names in the specialist construction, contracting and related sectors into direct contact with decision-makers – from senior project managers to procurement personnel – from all across the region. It is committed to constantly improving the exhibitor and visitor experience, including a range of new products and service launches.

Last year’s gulfBID exhibition received a tremendous amount of positive feedback with many companies returning this year to
showcase their top-selling products. The show and its two parallel exhibitions – gulfInteriors and Gulf Property Show – attracted 9,500 unique registered visitors in 2013.

GulfInteriors was established in Bahrain three years ago to complement and run alongside gulfBID. The show today has a unique brand identity, attracting the crème-de-la-crème of the interiors, design and furniture worlds, says the organiser. Reflecting the demand and tastes of the regional market, the show has since expanded and adapted.

GulfInteriors provides a showcase for regional home-grown and renowned international brands covering sectors including furniture, paints, kitchens, bathrooms, lighting, ceramics, wall-coverings and art and accessories, in a creatively charged yet distinctly boutique atmosphere.

Abdulrahman comments: “Since 2010, gulfInteriors has developed a flavour and character all of its own. While it still strongly complements the overwhelmingly successful gulfBID, the interiors show has carved a niche as a place where specialist product and service providers can mingle and do business with project managers, specifiers, buyers and even home owners.”

Meanwhile, Gulf Property Show has already carved a reputation as a highly targeted showcase for the real estate sector in the Northern Gulf, following its successful debut last year. This year’s show has been expanded by more than 60 per cent in size, hosting major developers and real estate consultants and professionals. The $3-billion landmark Bahrain Financial Harbour (BFH) has returned this year to be the gold sponsor of the show.

Commenting on the agreement, Abdulrahman says: “The strategic support of national real estate icons like BFH was integral to the success of the inaugural Gulf Property Show last year. We are, therefore, delighted that our partner has decided to renew its trust in our brand this year to promote their growth story, while further assisting our objectives to create the ultimate platform to showcase real estate projects which are making a major contribution to Bahrain’s economy.”

Dr Omar Al Mardi, managing director of BFH, says: “2014 promises to be another landmark year in BFH’s history, with construction work on the new car-park and expanded leisure and recreational facilities which take us one step closer to realising our long-term vision.

“As the BFH business community grows, the convenience, comfort and safety of our tenants – as well as that of our visitors and guests – remains top priority and the additional amenities that the Commercial West Car Park will provide underscores that commitment. We look forward to showcasing this, and other long-term plans for the BFH, at the Gulf Property Show.”

Abdulrahman says all three exhibitions enjoy public and private sector support, from such organisations as Bahrain’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Tamkeen, Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, AHK – The German Chambers of Commerce and Industry, British Expertise and Bahrain Property Developers Association.

“The shows attract decision-makers and consumers from across the Northern Gulf and we are working to enhance the environment at the show to ensuring that business is the key to the success of the shows,” concludes Abdulrahman.
