Officials at the company stall at a previous event.

GULF Membrane and Coating Industries, which claims to be the only factory in Bahrain producing bitumen-based waterproofing membranes for building construction, intends to exhibit its products at gulfBID to create greater awareness in Bahrain about its capabilities.

The company manufactures bituminous waterproofing products for buildings which are used in the foundations and roofs to prevent water leakage, says Johny Koithara, its general manager.

Gulf Membrane and Coating Industries was established in 1993 as a 100 per cent Bahraini-owned company with its head office and factory located in Raz Zuwayed. Employing a staff of 80, the company has a capacity of 10 million sq m of bituminous waterproofing membranes manufactured under the brand Rainshield, Bituflame, Plastiflame and the Roofmat.

It also produces the Bitukote range of liquid coatings for waterproofing and damp-proofing buildings, Roofkote acrylic water-based waterproofing coating, and the Dampshield range of damp-proofing membranes.

Gulf Membrane did exhibit at last year’s gulfBID and got a good response, he says, adding that the event “gave us the opportunity to look into international markets”.

Koithara says business for the company was steady last year with its products now used in most of the projects in Bahrain. “This is due to the high quality of the products we manufacture,” he says.

He adds that the company plans to introduce additional products during the coming years.

Gulf Membrane and Coating Industries will be exhibiting at Stand 1C61 at gulfBID.
