Saudi developer Riymar Real Estate has announced that leading German studio JSWD has won its international design competition to develop a landmark mixed-use project - Riymar Towers - planned at the intersection of King Fahd Road and Olaya Street in central Riyadh.
Riymar Real Estate selected JSWD following an invited competition involving five shortlisted architecture firms. The others are Aedas, AtkinsRéalis, Mesura and ZHA Architects.
The winning design from JSWD drewg inspiration from Saudi Arabia's natural landscape and architectural heritage.
The proposed development will feature vertical forms inspired by the Tuwaiq Mountains and terrace gardens referencing the region's oasis landscapes, said a statement from Riymar.
Its architectural design also incorporates elements inspired by the traditional adobe buildings of historic Diriyah and At-Turaif, said the company in a statement.
Thanks to its strategic location near Riyadh Gallery and a metro station, it offers connectivity to two of the capital's major roads.
Riymar said the project is being developed through a real estate fund managed by Tatimah Capital.
As per the contract, JSWD will now work with Riymar Real Estate to develop the initial design. The competition was managed by Malcolm Reading Consultants.
Riymar Towers is part of the developer's wider portfolio of projects aligned with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 development programme.-TradeArabia News Service
