China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) Middle East has announced that it has broken ground on the North Kabd Wastewater Treatment Plant Project being implemented at a total cost of KD998 million ($3.3 billion) in Kuwait city.

The scope of work for CSCEC includes the design, construction, operation and maintenance of a plant that can treat up to 1 million cu m of wastewater per day.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Kuwait's Minister of Public Works, Noura Al Mashaan along with other senior Chinese and Kuwaiti officials.

CSCEC Middle East said it remains committed to delivering quality infrastructure and supporting Kuwait’s sustainable development in a major boost to the country's Vision 2035 goals.

TradeArabia had announced in July that the agreement for the North Kabd Wastewater Treatment Plant and Related Works Project was signed at Bayan Palace in Kuwait, in the presence of Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al Ahmad Al Sabah, Al Mashaan and other senior officials from the Chinese Embassy in Kuwait.

Al Mashaan said the project would strengthen the country's wastewater infrastructure and help boost co-operation between Kuwait and China in infrastructure development.

The latest infrastructure project under co-operation between the two countries through China's Belt and Road Initiative, the North Kabd project is aimed at boosting Kuwait's capacity to collect, treat and reuse wastewater. On completion, it will be the largest wastewater plant in Kuwait.-TradeArabia News Service
