UAE-based Al Ghurair Development has confirmed Julfar Contracting, a part of Rashed Al Jabri Group of Companies, as the main contractor for Weave, its premium residential development in Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC).

Designed by Australian architect Joe Adsett in his first project in the Middle East, Weave reflects Al Ghurair Development’s philosophy that good architecture begins with understanding how people live.

From the planning of individual residences to social spaces that encourage wellbeing and connection, the development considers the routines, relationships and evolving needs of its residents, creating homes intended to remain relevant through different stages of life, stated the developer.

It comprises 130 apartments with a mix of one- to three-bedroom units along with other premium amenities, ranging from 700 to 2,200 sq ft.

Announcing the contract award, Al Ghurair Development said this appointment follows the completion of enabling works on site in July, ahead of schedule. Julfar Contracting took handover of the site at that point and has since made strong progress, with the project on track for completion by the second quarter of 2028.

Bringing over three decades of construction expertise, Julfar Contracting has established a strong track record in delivering mid- and high-rise residential, commercial and mixed-use developments across Dubai and the wider UAE, including several residential towers in JVC, it added.

Sultan Al Ghurair, CEO of Al Ghurair Development, said: "Weave reflects our approach to residential development, where thoughtful architecture is supported by practical planning, quality execution and long-term value for residents."

"Completing the enabling works ahead of schedule shows the discipline we bring to delivery, and appointing Julfar Contracting as main contractor is an important milestone as the project advances on site. Their expertise and track record give us confidence that Joe Adsett's design will be delivered with the precision and attention to detail it demands, while preserving the functionality and design integrity that buyers responded to from the outset," he added.

Construction is already advancing at pace, with site mobilisation fully completed and 70% of substructure works achieved.

Julfar has deployed a dedicated team of more than 100 project management, technical and engineering professionals and site personnel. These early milestones mark significant progress in bringing Weave's architectural vision to life, underpinned by a clear commitment to construction quality, safety and timely delivery.

Weave’s architectural language draws inspiration from 'safafa', the traditional weaving of palm fronds, reinterpreted in a contemporary form. Sculptural balconies create movement and depth across the façade, while the residences are planned around generous proportions, open living areas, practical circulation and calm private spaces.

At rooftop level, a private residents’ club brings together wellness, leisure and social spaces. Amenities include a rooftop pool, Jacuzzis, an ice bath, fitness and yoga facilities, sauna and steam room, private cinema, barbecue and dining areas, and a lounge for entertaining or co-working.

Rashed Matar Al Jabri, Founder & Chairman of Rashed Al Jabri Group, said: "Weave is a distinctive project that requires a high level of technical coordination to translate its architectural vision into reality. We are pleased to partner with Al Ghurair Development on its delivery, bringing our technical expertise and rigorous approach to every stage of construction."

"Since taking handover of the site in July, our teams have moved quickly into main works, and we are pleased with the progress achieved to date. Our focus will be on delivering the design as intended, with precision, quality and close attention to detail throughout," he added.

Weave is the first project in Al Ghurair Development's premium residential portfolio, which is supported by a strong pipeline. This includes Tessera, a recently launched townhouse-inspired community in Dubai South designed by Aires Mateus; an upcoming residential development in Wadi Al Safa 3 designed by Neri&Hu; Wedyan on Dubai Canal, a 46-storey super-prime residence designed by Kengo Kuma under Al Ghurair Collection; and a district-scale masterplan in Al Jaddaf led by Pelli Clarke & Partners.

Beyond the Development arm, Al Ghurair’s strategic sectors across Foods, Mobility, Infrastructure and Property Management have long been part of the everyday lives of people in the UAE.-TradeArabia News Service
