Oman’s Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ) has awarded a contract to build roads and supporting infrastructure at the Fisheries Industries Zone in Duqm, as the sultanate seeks to attract industrial investment and expand fisheries-related activities, reported ONA.
The project aims to improve OPAZ’s readiness to accommodate existing facilities and future investments, supporting the development of food industries and increasing the value added from fisheries resources, it stated.
The works include an internal road network spanning 8.7km long - comprising 7.3km of single-lane roads and 1.4km of dual-lane roads - as well as two roundabouts, traffic signals and road markings.
The contract also covers sewerage and potable water networks, irrigation channels, high- and low-voltage electricity networks, street lighting and telecommunications infrastructure, it stated.
The infrastructure is intended to improve access to industrial and service sites and meet the requirements of investment projects and facilities within the zone, it added.
