Spanish infrastructure major Acciona has announced that it has reached a major health, safety and environment (HSE) milestone in Qatar by clocking 20 million safe man hours without a Lost Time Injury (LTI) across its water operations in the country.

The milestone represents 917 consecutive days without an LTI, with the record maintained since 27 February 2024, said Acciona in a statement.

The achievement reflects the consistent application of Acciona’s health and safety standards across its operations, supported by strong leadership, proactive risk management, operational discipline and close collaboration between employees, subcontractors, suppliers and partners, it stated.

Announcing the key achievement, Acciona said safety is embedded throughout its activities, with teams encouraged to identify potential risks, intervene when necessary and continuously improve working practices. 

This approach supports a working environment in which safety is treated as a shared responsibility and remains central to day-to-day operations, it added.

Jose Francisco Garcia, EPC Director for the Water business of Acciona in Qatar, said: "Reaching 20 million safe man hours without an LTI is a significant milestone and a reflection of the commitment and professionalism of everyone involved in our operations. Safety is at the heart of how we work, and this achievement demonstrates what can be accomplished when every person takes responsibility for maintaining a safe workplace."
