Aecom has been appointed as the lead consultant for infrastructure design peer review and construction supervision for Phase I of the Al Dhaher Development in Al Ain, a major citizen housing project that will create an integrated residential community comprising 2,394 villas alongside schools, community facilities, retail, sports and religious facilities, public spaces and supporting infrastructure.
Located about 15 km south of Al Ain City Centre and close to the UAE-Oman border, the development spans about 528 hectares. It is designed to provide a high-quality, sustainable and culturally rooted community for UAE nationals while supporting the continued growth of Al Ain, said a statement from Aecom.
Covering the first phase, Aecom’s role will involve the design peer review and construction supervision of key infrastructure and associated works across the development.
This includes around 1,000 villas spanning 198 hectares, infrastructure and utility networks, roads and associated infrastructure, landscaping and public realm works, utility and service buildings, community facilities and flood mitigation and drainage infrastructure, it stated.

Resilience is a key consideration throughout the development, with flood mitigation measures, drainage infrastructure, stormwater ponds and hydraulic systems incorporated to support the community’s long-term safety and reliability, said Sami.
