Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), the world's largest aluminium smelter on one site, has announced two key recent promotions in managerial section - S. Abbas S. Baqer has been elevated to the post of Manager Calciner & Marine and Ali Aseeri to that of Manager Engineering & Projects.
Since joining Alba in 1989 as a Vocational Trainee, Baqer has built an accomplished career across engineering, maintenance and marine operations.
He has held a number of senior leadership positions and was instrumental in the successful delivery of Alba’s Port Upgrade Project, a key enabler of the Line 6 Expansion Project and the aluminium giant’s long-term growth ambitions, said the company in a statement.
According to Alba, Aseeri brings over two decades of engineering expertise to this role. He started his career in the Bahrain group's Engineering Department in 2005, following which he held several key positions, including those of Senior Engineer and Superintendent of Engineering.
Throughout his tenure, he had played a pivotal role in delivering transformative capacity enhancement projects such as Lines 4 & 6 Anode Enlargement Projects and the Upgrades of Gas Treatment Centres 1 through 4, it stated.

Baqer holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Huddersfield, UK, graduating with First Class Honours (Distinction), and several professional certifications including Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, Certified Maintenance Planner, and Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO) under the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code.
Aseeri holds a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Liberec, Czech Republic, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Arabian Gulf University, and a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI), it added.-TradeArabia News Service
