Limak Insaat, a key unit of leading Turkish conglomerate Limak Holding, has announced that work is nearing completion on the new Kuwait International Airport Terminal 2 which will boast several sustainable features as well as key amenities.

KIA T2 is expected to achieve Leed (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certification for energy and environmental design and will have a capacity to handle 25 million passengers per year.

The new Kuwait International Airport Terminal 2 (T2) will serve as a symbol of Kuwait’s progress and modernity and move the country one step closer to achieving its vision of becoming a financial and trade hub — supporting the country’s aim to increase foreign investment.

In December 2015, Limak Insaat Kuwait was the first construction company and the 12th overall to be established under the Foreign Direct Investment Law facilitated by the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA).

The very next year, Limak was awarded the contract for the construction, completion, furnishing, and maintenance of Package 1 of the Kuwait International Airport (KIA) New Passenger Terminal (T2) project.

In 2020, the Turkish company was awarded the second contract (this time Package 2) for the construction of the car park, service buildings, and roads leading to the terminal.

And currently the ambitious Kuwait airport project is entering the final stages of construction.

"We are thrilled to support the development of Kuwait and realise the ambitious vision of HH the Emir of Kuwait. For us, Kuwait is a home-away-from-home, and our commitment to its social and economic growth is deep-rooted. For the project to be sustainable and deliver economic benefits for the local economy and people, it’s important for it to be managed by Kuwaitis," remarked Ebru Özdemir, the Chair of the Board of Limak Holding.

"Additionally, through the T2 project, we launched the Kuwait Women’s Economic Empowerment Platform (KWEEP), which aims to inspire and foster positive change in women’s employment and leadership within the Kuwaiti private sector," she stated at an event held in Istanbul in the presence of HH the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, during his official state visit to Türkiye.
