Abu Dhabi Transport (ADT) has invited expressions of interest (EoIs) from rolling stock manufacturers and civil engineering contractors to lead the design and build package for the Abu Dhabi Light Rail Transit Line 4 (LRT4) project.

The 19-km-long light rail line network will have 23 stops linking Zayed International Airport, Al Raha Beach and Yas Island, with the fleet maintained at a new depot.

According to ADT, under a single contract, the selected lead entity will be responsible for the complete design, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning and certification of LRT4.

The scope of work includes civil, mechanical, electrical engineering services as well as development of stations, track, a fleet of 25 LRVs, and railway systems including signalling, telecommunications, supervisory control and data acquisition (Scada), power supply, and depot facilities.

According to ADT, construction is expected to start next year, with operations scheduled to begin by 2030.

"The launch of this EOIs reflects the ongoing strategic vision of Abu Dhabi’s leadership in advancing a smart, integrated transport ecosystem," remarked Saeed Salem AlSuwaidi, the Chief Executive of ADT.

"ADT is proud to contribute to delivering projects that support the emirate’s economic diversification and urban sustainability," he stated.

Future phases will extend the line towards Khalifa City and serve additional destinations across Yas Island, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
