Dali ... one of the handles to be used on the Burj Dubai.

Manital, the handle manufacturing company from Italy, has just added itself to the list of companies associated with the Burj Dubai, a prestigious project designed by Adrian Smith for Skidmore Owings and Merrill.

“Competing against numerous other international companies, we have recently won an important contract for supplying handles to the luxurious apartments that will occupy a large part of the building,” says a spokesman for the company. “The models chosen by the specifier are Atena and Dalì designed by Maurizio Giordano and Roberto Grossi of Archilab and Titi Cusatelli respectively.
“This important achievement reflects the commitment of the company and its staff who have contributed to this success,” he says.
Set up in 1990, by Luigi Bigoloni, Manital was based on its founder’s years of experience in the industry and the idea that Italian design and high-quality technology can be a winning combination, says the spokesman.
“The company’s success and development have confirmed this strategy leading to gradual growth and expansion in international markets,” he adds. “With a subsidiary in Poland and an associated company in Spain, Manital also operates throughout Europe, Russia, Australia, Canada, the US, the Arab countries, India and South America. The company’s exports to roughly 60 different countries cover over 80 per cent of the turnover that amounted to €7.3 million last year.
Equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, the company is managed by a team of both experienced and new designers including Titi Cusatelli, Maurizio Giordano and Roberto Grossi, Studio Hot Lab, Mario Mazzer, Davide Mercatali, Paolo Pedrizzetti and Sottsass Associati, says the spokesman.
Manital’s current catalogue offers more than 60 series of handles and up to 600 different products.
