Having established itself as one of the largest curtain-walling companies in Qatar over the past 10 years, Aluminium Gulf Ray is looking forward to yet another positive year in business.
The company, which this year marks a decade of service to the Qatar market, specialises in the design, engineering, manufacture and installation of all types of curtain-wall façade and cladding systems. It now attains an annual turnover of more than QR200 million ($54.58 million) and has an impressive project portfolio that includes a large number of hotels and commercial and residential buildings.
One of its largest projects under design is the Al Noor building which is to be constructed in the West Bay area.
“With the engineering studies almost completed, we will soon start work on the Al Noor Tower,” says Eddy Tahchy, project manager of the company. “The custom- designed curtain-wall will be composed of conventional Schuco System FW50+SG, tempered laminated Evergreen glass and the sunshade louvres going out through the 20 mm gap. Alucobond of 4 mm thickness will be used as the cladding on the curved sides reaching the top level of the tower building. The double and opposite recessed curvature shape of this striking building will be a major challenge during the installation phase.”
“With the structural concrete phase already having reached the sixth floor and the design stage already completed, the curtain wall erection will start within two months,” he adds.
Some of the company’s other projects currently under engineering, construction or in the hand-over stage in Qatar include Al Handasa Complex project, Commercial Bank Residence Tower, Beach Tower and the Al Majid Twin Towers.
It has also completed a large number of projects in the rapidly-developing Qatar market, including the City Centre hotel, Ritz Carlton hotel, Landmark centre, Le Mirage Compound health club building, Suhaim Tower, La Cigale Hotel, Al Majid Tower, Commercial Bank of Qatar, Al Arabi Sports Club, Omran Commercial Center, Rabban Tower, Al Mansoura Tower and Al Sharq low-rise hotel, among others.
Aluminum Gulf Ray is one of the leading companies in the engineering, manufacturing and installation of architectural envelope building facades in the region. The company also provides tailor-made engineering solutions to suit varied requirements of consultants and clients with regard to decorative and architectural metal work such as stainless steel and aluminium hand-railings, rooflights, skylights and canopies, stainless steel, composite and honey-comb cladding, false ceiling and circular cladded columns, glass assemblies with spider or structural glazed systems, mechanically-fixed and movable louvres and sunshades and special projects.

We offer complete solutions to our clients by maintaining a close teamwork with the architects from the preliminary design until the hand-over stage. We also have a solid partnership with our suppliers. “We are committed achieve the considerable energy savings asked by the architects, thus helping the environment, as well as in improving the living conditions of a building’s occupants,” adds Tahchy.
As part of its expansion policy, AGR has also set up its sister concern – Qatar Glass Industries (QGI) – last year to provide state-of-the-art locally-processed glass products with the help of contemporary laminating lines in its factories. Using technologically-advanced machinery such as a computerised horizontal tempering plant and automated assembly line for double-glazed insulated units, QGI is already supplying glass products to most of the façade companies in the Gulf market. It will soon install the latest in glass laminating lines as well.
Located in Salwa Industrial Area in Doha, AGR’s factories boast a floor area over a 3,500 sq m and include powder coating facilities. It offers a full-fledged service with the latest CNC cutting, slicing, punching, drilling, crimping and bending machineries from Europe. It focuses on a total quality approach with all its products fully compliant to local and relevant international requirements.
AGR is currently staffed with more than 500 employees, including a skilled management and engineering team supported by production supervisors, foremen, machine operators and other workers. The technical design department also has skilled engineers and technicians who operate more than 30 computer-aided design (CAD) stations.
