Chemique Adhesives and Sealants has recently launched some innovative trend-setting products with a focus on becoming the first choice supplier for a diverse range of industries requiring specialist adhesive products.

These new lines include the Solfre2 Honeycomb Clear panel adhesives for bathroom designing as well as its latest in innovative adhesives, Polped2 HF and Polyped1, which complete its full range of Polyped products.
“Our honeycomb adhesives have been created through the use of the latest in advanced technology and applied with rheology, which enables the adhesive to crawl up the honeycomb mechanism, increasing the bonding area on the honeycomb. The clear formulation is one of a kind in the industry and the ideal solution for architects wanting to achieve stunning aesthetic design through glass and partitioning,” says John Bellerby, technical manager of the UK-based pioneer in the development of solvent-free polyurethane adhesives.
Elaborating on honeycomb panels, a spokesman for the company says: “Due to the latest advances in technology, strength, safety, reliability and efficiency within transport, building and other composite industries, new fabricated materials such as the honeycomb sandwich panel have been introduced to meet these demands. The new honeycomb panels consist of a skin made from a wide range of substrates such as metals, plastics and woods and have an internal lightweight honeycomb shaped aluminium or thermoplastic core, resembling that of a beehive.
To facilitate the manufacture of composite panels with a honeycomb core, without compromising the bond strength of the adhesive on a limited contact area, Chemique produced Solfre2 honeycomb panel adhesive, which has been specifically formulated for the manufacture of these panels and composite products.
Following the success of this product, Chemique has now launched the Solfre2 Honeycomb Clear, a unique transparent adhesive that is described as being ideal for bonding glass, clear acrylic or polycarbonate sheets.
Completely solvent-free, the new adhesive spreads upwards and will not discolour even with long-term exposure to ultraviolet light, making it the perfect solution for architects incorporating decorative partition panels and windows into their design. It also works perfectly for marine composite panels, furniture and doors.
Meanwhile, Chemique has also launched Polped2HF and Polyped 1 that offer solutions for the installation and manufacture of raised access flooring, while completing the Polyped range by meeting all of the possible requirements in a pedestal adhesive.
“Developed to meet exacting raised-floor applications in a new climate of environmental awareness, Polyped2 HF is a hazard-free, solvent-free, two-component pedestal adhesive. Eliminating health and safety hazards for operatives, the new adhesive allows customers to meet current environmental legislations and reduces any disposal issues related to health and safety. Polyped2 HF also considerably reduces the need for storage space, thanks to its carefully designed single package that holds two sections for easy mixing. With no risk of site closures, it can guarantee no downtime due to hazardous substances during the installation of access flooring.
Polyped 2 was specifically formulated for the bonding of metal pedestals to concrete when installing raised flooring systems and has long been the market’s first choice in pedestal adhesive. “Carefully designed to ease the mixing of the two parts, Polyped2 now comes in a new packaging. Both parts are provided within a seven-litre bucket, with Part B resting neatly inside the cuvette which, when removed, provides the extra space for adding and mixing the formula together. Due to this single package, storage and transport requirements have been considerably reduced,” the spokesman says.
Polyped1 is a one-component moisture-curing pedestal adhesive equivalent to Polyped2. Designed utilising Chemique’s rigorous quality control procedures and experience of application techniques, Polyped1 has been developed to be ready straight from the bucket with no need for mixing, he says.
“Forming a strong and extremely flexible bond, the whole bucket of Polyped1 adhesive does not have to be used at the same time and instead can be stored and used at a later date, provided the container is tightly sealed, thus offering a quicker and more cost-effective solution to installers of access flooring, particularly for those who need to repair only a few pedestals at a time,” the spokesman adds.
“It is integral to the success of our customers that we are able to provide solutions to the ever-changing flooring requirements and health and safety legislation,” says Tony McMullen, commercial director of Chemique. “We believe that with the introduction of our latest Polyped products, Chemique can now offer the full package of solutions for installers of raised access flooring whether they are looking for an efficient and cost effective solution or have concerns with environmental issues.”
With a wide array of products, Chemique is able to offer solutions to a diverse range of industries including automotive, foam conversion, raised access flooring, architectural panels, clean room and furniture, among others.
