Mek-Tek, a leading British manufacturer of mobile volumetric concrete mixers, reports that its new Breaker Truck, which made its debut as part of a display on the Renault stand at SED 2006, was sold on the opening day by Renault Trucks’ general sales manager Tim Huggins.
SED, the premier British national event for the construction industry, was held in Corby, Northamptonshire from May 16 to 18 this year. The breaker truck, designed especially for the recycled aggregate market, is thought to be the first of its type and is equipped with an automated internal ‘breaker arm’ that agitates sticky reclaimed material to clear hold-ups.
Mek-Tek also handed over its new mobile batching plant to two clients at the SED trade fair with Richard Butcher collecting a 10 cu m MBP10, which will be exported to Australia for Dialamix-Australia, his new business, and Mario and Wayne Cerchione taking delivery of a 6 cu m MBP 6 for their company, Spot on Concrete. A fourth truck was also sold, but Mek-Tek was unable to release details until contracts are formally exchanged.
Summing up SED 2006, Mek-Tek chairman Bob Prince says the company had a great show. “The stand was so busy that I didn’t have time to look around the other exhibits, and it was often difficult for the sales staff to take breaks,” he says.
