Saudi-based Raghadan Paints Company – which set up a joint venture company in Qatar two years ago in partnership with the local Safari Group – is confident of gaining a larger share of the booming Qatari market over the next few years.
Already, it is contributing to prestigious projects such as the Sports City as well as palaces and villa projects. The company has a showroom on Salwa Road – which houses many of the furniture and building materials outlets in Doha. Supported by a team of more than 60 paint applicators, Raghadan offers a supply-and-apply service to the local market.
Elaborating on the Sports City project, sales and marketing director Dr Hisham Ali says: “For the Khalifa International Sports Stadium, we also offered assistance with the designing of the paint finish and the selection of colours. For instance, one of the sports facilities has a vinyl floor covering with a wavy design. What we have done is replicate this design in the finish of the walls.”
Established in 1974, Raghadan Paints Company claims to be the largest indigenous paint manufacturer in the Arab world with a network of three major paint factories in Riyadh and Cairo, six paint companies in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Jordan and Egypt, a regional office in London, 15 branches, 20 agents, 500 distributors and a multinational workforce of 1,000 employees.
Today, the company boasts business interests that cover manufacturing, sale, distributing, application, import and export of paints. It also offers decor designing and supervising services.
Raghadan has recently embarked on an ambitious expansion programme that involves the expansion of its factories, production of new construction finishing products such as sealants and adhesives for tiles and ceramics, coloured cement finishes and crack fillers as well as the appointment of more agents and extension of showrooms in Saudi Arabia.
The company has appointed new agents in Syria, Bahrain, Sudan, Kuwait, Yemen and Kenya as part of this expansion plan.
The Syrian agent is now building what will be one of the largest paint showrooms in the world covering an area of 3,000 sq m in Damascus, says Dr Ali.
Paints supplied by Raghadan have been used in many projects in the region and the company has worked in collaboration with top contractors. It is also the official paint supplier and applicator for the projects of royal families of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Bahrain, he says.
To create greater awareness of its products and services, Raghadan Paint Company has last year participated in 10 different international interior decor and building exhibitions in the Gulf and Arab countries, including events in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Libya, and Kenya in order to showcase its new unique paint products to customers and intends to continue to do so this year.
The company product range includes:
• High-quality alkyd-based decorative enamels, designed for interior and exterior use on surfaces such as cement, concrete, wood and metal surfaces. These are specially formulated to give excellent elasticity, durability and lasting protection; and
• Top-quality emulsion paints formulated for use on all types of interior and exterior surfaces such as plaster, wallpaper, gypsum, masonry and brickwork. These paints are durable, exhibit excellent scrub resistance and are highly washable.
“This growth has been achieved through the dedication, hard work and positive outlook of all its founding members. We have been making sure that we provide the best quality and customer service at the most competitive prices,” says Dr Ali.
