TCM has loaded its new FDG 3.5 to 5-tonne forklifts with a host of features that make them the most comfortable, powerful and cleanest in their class, according to Aljomaih Equipment Company, the Saudi distributor for the Japanese equipment manufacturer.

The clean and powerful six-cylinder S6S diesel engine on board the FDG, coupled with a quick start-up glow system, ensures comfortable driving while considerably reducing air pollution, says Abdullah S Al Ali, general manager of the Riyadh-based company.
“The environment-friendly diesel engine meets EU stage II, US EPA Tier 2 and JPN phase two emission control regulations and by adopting a new type of swirl-chamber combustion system, it achieves a cleaner exhaust. This powerful and environment-friendly engine is the core gear for this powerful forklift truck with a rated output of 64.7 kW at 2,300 rpm and a maximum torque 284 Nm at 1,600 rpm. The engine’s automatic glow system – standard equipment for diesel models – automatically glows with the ignition key ‘on’ and achieves stable engine start-up (glow indicator lamp is equipped in meter panel),” explains a spokesman for TCM.
In addition, the models come with a host of operator-friendly features such as a light-touch lever operation to reduce fatigue; electric shift control lever in torque converter models which makes forward, neutral and reverse shifting operation much easier; and an automatic transmission system to further reduce operator fatigue.
The models also boast features that one would expect of passenger cars such as the multi-function switch lever, with a lighting switch integrated with the turn signal switch that provides the convenient familiarity of driving a passenger car. Turn signal automatically returns when turns are completed, the spokesman adds.
Ample driver’s foot space lends comfortable access to the vehicle coupled with the wider floor and step spaces. In addition, the protective cover on the tilt cylinder enhances safety and comfort.
“A more powerful as well as cleaner engine and increased operator comfort – these are what you get, and more, from TCM,” says the spokesman.
“The outstanding lifting speed of this new TCM series also enhances work efficiency. The FD35 and 40, for example, achieves 540 mm/s of lifting speed with load, as well as 550 mm/s of lowering speed without load. These remarkable performances largely improve efficiency of cargo handling,” says the spokesman. “Powerful acceleration and quick start-up also contribute to increasing operation efficiency. The torque converter truck model is equipped with an automatic transmission for shifting the first and the second gears. Smoother start-up and acceleration by two-speed transmission, as well as no changing gear operation largely contribute to improve operation efficiency and remarkable performance at various work sites.
“Using the selectable best suitable travel mode switch in torque converter models, operators can choose from three travel modes. A soft touch of the switch allows the easy selection of the optimum traction at travel. For cargo handling, the operator may select either ‘H’ or ‘M’ mode, while the ‘L’ mode is suitable for climbing slopes”, adds
“An innovative aluminum radiator improves cooling capacity by 18 per cent, contributing to longer engine life. The presence of a sturdy differential and axle components, together with an oil clutch cooled and lubricated by the transmission oil circulated through an oil cooler and new torque converter equipped with cooling fins, as well as the use of an oil-filled type of lift cylinder, have greatly increased the durability and reliability of this new TCM Series,” Al Ali adds.
