More than 200 companies from around the world will take part in the Abu Dhabi International Road Exhibition and Conference (Roadex) scheduled to take place in March 2006.
Roadex 2006 – organised by the General Exhibitions Corporation (GEC), the Department of Municipalities and Agriculture, the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Public Works – will be 30 per cent bigger, said Ahmad Humaid Al Mazrouie, director-general, GEC.
The road industry in the Middle East holds huge potential and governments in the GCC are expected to spend billions on road projects in the coming years, according to a spokesman for GEC.
“Bahrain allocated $104.41 million in 2003-04 for roads, bridges and sewerageIn Saudi Arabia, an allocation of $1.87 billion was made in 2005 for new projects including roads, intersections and bridges and related projects. Qatar has apportioned $3.72 billion on roads up to 2009,” he said.
