The Netherlands-based HEK Manufacturing has introduced a new 300 kg capacity, single phase, standard power supply material hoist, which it says gives builders and contractors the opportunity to significantly increase productivity even on the smallest of projects.
“In many situations, contractors and builders do not have access to heavy-duty power supplies, thereby severely restricting their choice of equipment unless they have their own generator. But the introduction of the HEK GL 300 S opens up a significant potential for greater use of material hoists to existing and new markets,” says a company spokesman.
Plug & go
Using proven rack-and-pinion drive technology for maximum reliability and durability, the HEK GL 300 S provides generous internal platform dimensions of 1 m wide and 1.70 m deep for easy loading. The hoist dimensions and capacity are sufficient to carry large-dimensioned materials, blocks, piping and loaded wheelbarrows up to a maximum of 300 kg. With a hoist and descending speed of 8 m/min, materials can be quickly and safely transported to a maximum height of 50 m (anchored).
A fold-down gate provides a rigid ramp for easy loading at ground level. The fold-down landing platform also incorporates side rails to provide necessary security during transfer of material between the hoist and the building, thereby eliminating the need to erect temporary barriers.
“The new HEK GL 300 S does all this with a basic 240v 50/60 Hz single-phase power supply and with the ground frame and the lightweight mast sections in place, it really is as simply as ‘plug and go’”, he adds.
New opportunities
Now, for the first time, there is a safe and economical means of transporting materials in isolated areas and for applications in which a HEK hoist has not been traditionally used –such as house building and maintenance and refurbishment contracts on low to medium-height buildings. HEK believes the new hoist will prove very popular with rental and plant hire companies, as it enables them to develop additional market opportunities by providing more efficient solutions to customers.
New range of transport platforms
HEK has also introduced the new HEK GTP Dual T 1500, which has similar specifications to the GTP Dual 1500 – the main difference being the alignment of the transport platform. The platform on the new model has been turned round by 90 degrees enabling easier loading and unloading of palletized and large dimensioned materials such as glazing panels, says the spokesman.
“The ‘straight in-straight out’ principle is in response to requests by contractors using the products to deliver material for use inside and outside of the building. By realigning the loading platform, it eliminates turning the material during loading and unloading, which is time-consuming and can be awkward with heavy loads,” he adds.
Using mast sections common to the HEK GTP and GL range, the internal dimension of the platform now measures 1.4 m wide by 3.3 m depth, and carries a load capacity of 1,500 kg including up to seven people supervising the material being transported.
With personnel and material on board, the GTP Dual T 1500 travels at 12 m per minute. When used for transport of material only, in which case it is controlled from the ground, the travel speed is increased to 24 m per minute. A ground-level loading height of just 0.6 m means only a low level ramp is required for easier loading, while at height, the platform is levelled with the floor.
“Suitable for heights up to 120 m, anchored at 6 m intervals, the HEK GTP Dual T 1500 is an efficient and economical alternative to other material transport methods and comes with an optional roof and ground frame,” says the spokesman.
Now contractors have a choice of platform alignment that best suits their requirement, he adds.
The new GTP Dual T 1500 will be the preferred option for delivery of material for use inside the building. The horizontal, wide-opening gates of the GTP Dual 1500 make it extremely easy to load pipe work, ducting, steel and other material that, by their nature, have to be carried lengthwise. This model will also be the preferred choice for delivery of material for use from the scaffolding.
Established in the 1960s, HEK has developed an excellent relationship with its customers over the years. “It is by listening to the needs of the industry and developing innovative vertical access solutions that the company is today the world’s leading manufacturer of mast climbing work platforms,” says the spokesman.
HEK Manufacturing is a wholly-owned company of Intervect – headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. As with all HEK mastclimbing workplatforms and hoists, both the HEK GL 300 S and the GTP Dual T 1500 are fully supported worldwide through the Intervect sales and marketing offices as well as independent sales and rental companies. Apart from parts and service support, all customers also have full access to the company’s ‘total support’ services, which include training in safe erection and dismantling and the benefit of technical engineering experts.
All HEK products are fully compliant with local codes and regulations wherever they are sold and all products are manufactured in facilities certified to ISO 9001 standards.
Other companies within Intervect include Alimak and 14 Intervect sales and rental organisations worldwide.
