Bahrain-based aluminium systems specialist Technal Middle East – which has just concluded a successful year in business – is looking ahead at 2005 with greater optimism towards increasing the market share for its quality systemsin the GCC for medium and large projects.
It is also looking forward to launch new competitive products in a bid to offer the latest technology in high-rise aluminium applications and windows.
The company had bagged several landmark projects in the GCC by actively supporting its fast-growing fabricator network in all engineering aspects and following up the fabrication and installation process.
“The sizeable volume of large and challenging projects initiated in the region has resulted in a significant growth in the construction business. The markets of Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar have been growing similar to the UAE. This has brought about a competition within the market with companies trying to meet the surge in demand for hi-tech, quality products that conform to strict standards and specifications,” says Gerard Lugrin, general manager of Technal Middle East.
“Aluminium fabricators must gear up to meet the growth in demand by taking on new challenges and through the phased enhancement of their capacities, company structures and know-how. This will allow them to benefit from the growth and prevent a monopoly among a few leading international companies in large or sophisticated aluminium works.”
“With this aim, we have been reinforcing our presence in the regional markets through offering necessary support to our network of fabricators and also by promising to offer a solid, professional, competitive and high quality of aluminium works and expertise to the architects, consultants and main contractors.
Last year, the company was involved with several landmark projects in the region including the Taib Bank, Bahrain International Circuit, Zamil Towers, BNH (Bahrain National Holding) headquarters, and Al Rosais Tower (all in Bahrain); the Acico Tower, Civil Services, Union of Customers, Al Salam Hospital, and the Youth and Sports building (all in Kuwait); and the Al Subeaei Complex, Arcade Commercial Centre, Saudi Agriculture Bank, and Tawareen (in Saudi Arabia).
In the UAE, the company has handled a number of projects including the Abu Dhabi Trade Centre, Khalidiya Towers (three-attached towers) with more than 15,000 sq m curtain wall, Almina Residential Tower, Dubai Marina and more recently the phase 1 and 3 of the Jumeira Beach Residence in Dubai, with 13 towers to be completed first half this year involving the supply of doors, windows and curtain walling.
For most of these projects a combination of Technal standard systems and design and built solutions has been applied to strictly conform to the high specifications and requested design.
Technal Middle East has established a large and direct presence in the Gulf, with offices in the UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia supported by the Bahrain head office with a technical and engineering, logistics, marketing and sales structure to meet market needs.
