Leading European aluminium systems manufacturer Reynaers, which recently set up its Middle East office in Bahrain, is already busy with orders for its aluminium systems coming from several major projects in the region, particularly in the kingdom and in the UAE.
The company – which recognises the Middle East and particularly the Gulf region as one of the fastest-developing markets in the world – is optimistic that as the current projects are finalised, Reynaers Middle East will gain a market share in the other GCC markets.
“Developers, architects and contractors in the region are looking for innovative and high-quality solutions for realising their creative designs,” says Ali Khalaf, managing director of Reynaers Middle East. “Reynaers’ comprehensive product range offers them what they specifically require.”
“In a very short period, we have managed to get Reynaers’ system to be specified with important consultant and architect offices,” he adds.
The company, which recently made its debut at the Big 5 show in Dubai, returned home having successfully clinched two deals at the event for the supply of its aluminium systems: the first for a 32-villa project and a 14-storey residential building in the UAE.
The company also made a presentation at The Annual Aluminium & Glass Conference 2004, part of the Gulf Construction Conference Week held simultaneously with the Big 5 show. The paper entitled “Efficient Energy Management in Buildings through External Sun Screening Systems” was presented by Reynaers’ chief technical officer Erik Rasker, who offered an insight to the region’s growing interest in the integration of external sun-screening systems into more comprehensive facade and building systems in a manner that increases comfort and productivity for occupants, while reducing operating costs for building owners and contributing to a more healthy environment.
Just prior to the show, Reynaers Middle East secured one of its initial batches of projects, which called for providing its curtain wall CW50-HL for Ajman University’s multi-purpose hall. The project was carried out by its authorised fabricator in Sharjah, Becon Aluminium and Glass Contracting.
“The project required the delivery of two-sided structural glazed curtain walls with concealed open vents and the curtain wall facade has been designed to allow maximum light into the hall with its slim 50 mm sightlines,” he points out.
Close on the heels of the contract, Becon Aluminium secured further projects for the Reynaers system for five colleges of Ajman University. The materials, scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2005, will involve a total of 10,000 sq m of glass facade.
In Bahrain, Reynaers aluminium system will be utilised in the construction of Riffa Sports Club. The club’s new buildings will be fitted with CW 50 for its curtain walls, CS59-PA for its doors and windows and Reynaers’ Brise Soleil system for sunscreens, which will provide aesthetic elegance to the building and a practical shading solution, says Khalaf.
“Since this project is for the Ministry of Works, we had to get the Reynaers system approved by the ministry – and we were happy to obtain it,” he says.
In addition, Reynaers will soon supply its four-sided structural glazing system CW50-SC with top hung concealed opening, for a 14-storey residential building in Juffair.
Reynaers’ authorised fabricator in Bahrain is Abdul Aziz Aluminum.
Founded in 1965, Reynaers Aluminium is headquartered in Duffel, Belgium and has an international presence in over 25 countries. The company – one of Europe’s market leaders in the development, commercialisation and distribution of high-quality aluminium systems for windows, doors, sliding elements, curtain walls, conservatories and sunscreening systems – provides solutions for new buildings as well as for renovation projects.
Through permanent investments in research and development, Reynaers Aluminium regularly introduces innovative products, which are rigorously tested as part of the development process to ensure that they meet, and often exceed, most European standards for air-tightness, wind resistance, and water penetration.
The Reynaers Institute, which plays a vital role in the company’s research and development, serves as its knowledge centre and meeting place for customers, suppliers, architects, contractors and employees, says Khalaf.
“Every part of the supply chain is regulated by very stringent quality controls. In this way, Reynaers Aluminium is able to ensure that its systems fulfill all national and product-related technical endorsements,” he says.
“Reynaers is the only aluminum systems supplier that provides a 10-year system guarantee to the owner of the project,” Khalaf states. “The company’s ISO 9002 certification guarantees that every order is processed efficiently from the time it is placed through to after-sales service.”
Given its extensive network, Reynaers has strong and established logistics operations for the benefit of its customers who can avail of rapid delivery of inventoried stocks through its various distribution centres.
