Vibromax – a leading German manufacturer of compaction equipment – has developed seven new compactors, which it claims will offer easy solutions to all generally encountered compaction tasks.
“The right compaction of the soil plays an important role in earthworks and road building – and ultimately determines to a considerable extent the service life of a road construction,” says a company spokesman. “For this reason, road construction engineers have to decide which compacting machine they need to produce technically sound and economically profitable results for each application.”
“The seven new compactors – VM 46, VM 66, VM 106, VM 116, VM 146, VM 166, and VM 186 – that were developed for the different compaction tasks and varying materials and construction site conditions, more than meet these demands,” he says.
Through the development of the new VM single drum roller generation machines the company has focused on the twin objectives of optimising profitability and at the same time enhancing practicability,” he says.
Common to all the machine types is a new and attractive design that provides the operator in the cab with the best possible working conditions, he says.
“The cabs offer everything you could ask for. A panorama windscreen and generously-dimensioned side and rear windows in conjunction with a weight-adjustable swivelling operator’s seat promise comfortable relaxed working in the operator’s position.
“In addition, the steering unit has been designed to allow for height and lateral adjustments. The models are more ergonomic with the instrument panel and switches being placed in a way to ease viewing and actuating range for the operator.”
The latest series also comes with an incentive – its noise emissions have been reduced well below the required levels.
“The rear-mounted engine compartment is completely surrounded by a hood (liftable on the VM 106 and VM 186 hydraulically raised), which can be opened to an angle of 90 degrees for maintenance and service work, permitting free access to the diesel engine and to the pump area. The service station for all the hydraulic circuits introduced on all Vibromax rollers allows the service technician to obtain a quick and precise overview of the machine.
The front and rear sections of the machine are linked by a maintenance-free articulated joint that easily transmits the tensile, shear and rotational forces between the two machine sections.
All compactors require minimum maintenance – a further contribution to cost-effective operation of the machines.
The weight distribution ratio between the front and rear sections of the machine – so important on rollers – has also been improved upon and is at an ideal level of 50:50. The torques installed on the rear drive wheels and on the roller drum can be perfectly transformed into traction on upgrades. In addition, all the models come equipped with an anti-slip module, he says.
The real working section of all the rollers, – the drum body – reflects the many years of experience from five successful roller generations that have withstood the rigours of work on every continent, and on a diverse range of projects.
The new generation achieves an improvement in compacting power per unit of time through a synchronised high vibrating mass crucial for proper and cost-effective compacting work. Two amplitudes and frequencies are therefore available, matched to the intrinsic resonance of the soil,” he adds.
Established in 1870, Vibromax – a name which is synonymous with the idea of dynamic soil compaction – has come a long way. In 1932, the company, which was then operating under the name of Losenhausen Maschinenbau was awarded a patent for an “Apparatus for the compaction of soils obtained”.
Vibromax machines became quickly established in the international markets as units renowned for their optimum compaction performance and innovative compaction technology, and since then the company has continued to pursue the idea of “maximum vibration”, incorporating this concept in a complete range of products designed for a multitude of applications,” he adds.
The list of products manufactured by the company includes: Tampers, reversible plate compactors, tandem rollers, forward running plate vibrators, double drum vibratory rollers, and self-propelled vibratory rollers.
“The name Vibromax stands for an optimised compaction technology, reliability and product quality,” says the spokesman.
“Whether in the field of production, design, purchasing, sales, customer advisory or after-sales services, our objective has always remained: Customer satisfaction through first-class quality,” he adds.
