Perkins has launched new, simplified overhaul kits, which can be used on all 4000 Series diesel engines, including six- and eight-cylinder inline, as well as 12- and 16-cylinder vee models. According to the leading provider of diesel engines, these kits have been introduced to maximise the working life of the series of engines, and in response to customer feedback.
The new overhaul kits provide the factory fit and performance of genuine Perkins parts, simplify ordering with a single part number, supply peace of mind with a 12-month standard Perkins warranty, and contain only the parts that are needed, avoiding unnecessary waste or expense, it adds.
Available now from Perkins distributors worldwide, each modular kit contains the latest specification Perkins genuine parts that have been engineered to match specific engine models and restore peak performance, improving compression, efficiency, power output, and fuel consumption.
A 4000 Series engine, known for its performance and durability, often do not need a full overhaul, says Perkins.
To support servicing requirements that occur every 15,000 hours, Perkins has developed Copper and Silver overhaul kits alongside a complementary range of gasket kits.
The Copper kits cater to single cylinder head overhauls and are split into two targeted offerings. The Top Gasket kit incorporates a combustion ring head gasket, exhaust and induction gaskets, a rocker box gasket, a rocker cover gasket, and seals for routine cylinder head overhauls. The Valvetrain kit covers valve servicing with valves, guides, seats, springs, injector tubes, injector washers, and seals.
The Silver kit provides a solution for major single cylinder overhaul inspections and contain a piston, piston rings, a cylinder liner, gaskets, seals, and connecting rod bolts.
To complement these overhaul options, Perkins also offers specialised gasket kits containing inspection door seals, oil cooler seals, and additional gaskets specifically tailored for 4012 and 4016 engines.
One of the world’s most dependable engine platforms for prime and standby applications, the 4000 Series is built for efficiency and dependability. As the engines use many of the same parts across different engine models, a relatively small inventory can service a lot of engines.
