Electromechanical contractor Sensaire Services is currently carrying out mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) work for the prestigious Shangri-La hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai, which is scheduled for completion early next year.
The hotel, which will be Shangri-La's first in Dubai, is part of the Al Jaber Complex, a 43-storey twin tower commercial and residential development being built by a joint venture of Al Habtoor Engineering Enterprises and South Africa's Murray and Roberts.
Sensaire has been operating for over 20 years in the UAE and has executed several projects in association with Al Habtoor," says a company spokesman. "Other landmark projects undertaken in conjunction with Al Habtoor include the Sharjah City Centre, Dubai Airport Free Zone, the Metropolitan Hotel and the Crowne Plaza hotel.
Sensaire Services, he says, is typically associated with larger-scale construction projects with a broad capability in building services and management and the creation of "intelligent buildings". Sensaire is based in Dubai with offices in Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Sudan and Pakistan.
The company has executed service installations on almost all types of buildings, including upmarket villas, hospitals, hotels, palaces, colleges, shopping malls and state-of-the-art hi-tech office buildings such as those in Dubai Media City (DMC).
Expert engineering services are provided for the complete range of electromechanical installations including air-conditioning, ventilation, electrical lighting and power, sanitary and drainage, water distribution, low-voltage lighting, stadium floodlighting, district cooling, and civil defence works for safety such as fire alarms, fire detection, sprinklers, dry and wet risers.
"The company has established and maintained its position and reputation through a commitment to quality and this commitment has resulted in accreditation to ISO 9001, ensuring that it continues to meet and exceed its own high standards and those demanded by the industry," the spokesman says.
He continues: "In the increasingly competitive market of building service engineering, clients have come to expect more from contractors than the simple execution of the consultant's designs. Sensaire is able to respond to these expectations through its diversified team of engineers and specialists providing in-house expertise.
"This diversity of experience and available technical knowledge ensures that Sensaire is not only able to implement the client's design, but is also able to offer advice in respect of noise level control and value engineering ideas to reduce both capital and running costs whilst maintaining or exceeding required performance. The design engineers utilise the latest CAD (computer-aided design) technology and support systems, enabling production of information of a high quality in the required time.
"The growth of Sensaire has resulted in the availability of a large pool of resources, enabling the company to respond to the increasing fast-track demands of the construction sector. Sensaire has a workforce of around 1,200 and its own ISO 9002-accredited sheet metal duct products manufacturing company, producing sheet and flexible ductwork, variable air volume (VAVs) systems, sound attenuators and the like.
"The philosophy of Sensaire's management team ensures that the company adopts the latest techniques and this continuous upgrading helps it maintain its position in the building services sector."
Sensaire's other notable projects in the UAE include Al Wasl Complex (Citibank headquarters), Dubai Higher College of Technology for Women, Al Rahba Hospital, Mazaya Complex, Children's City and the Emarat Atrium. The company is also executing work for the new hotels at Dubai World Trade Centre, which are currently under construction.
Overseas, Sensaire has been busy with two Sudanese projects - a new office complex for the NSIF and a new headquarters for Bank of Sudan, currently under construction.
