It is no secret that in a competitive and constantly developing market, leadership can only be maintained through serious investment in new equipment and technology and Al Abbar says it is no exception to this rule.
The UAE group's investment policy is based on improving production capacity along with expanding the product and service range offered to customers.
Al Abbar Aluminium, a giant whose signature is found on prestigious projects such as the Burj Al Arab, Emirates Towers and Dubai International Airport, has recently invested in state-of-the-art technology with the purchase of a water-jet cutting machine and the most modern CNC machinery for profile fabrication, as part of a Dh25 million ($6.8 million) investment plan.
"Being the pioneer in new systems and technology, Al Abbar Aluminium offers a complete design, manufacture and installation service and has the resources to see any project through, from concept to completion," says a company spokesman.
He continues: "The launch of Al Abbar Architectural Glass (AAG), a new commercial glass division, was intended to separate the glass division in order to serve the construction market as an autonomous glass processing company, responding competently on enquiries, technical requirements and implementing technical and performance studies for customers in the GCC and other export markets."
The glass factory uses up-to-date glass processing equipment to guarantee top-quality products that are used extensively in curtain-walls, doors, windows, skylights, balustrades, frameless assemblies and glass floors and stairs.
"Since the beginning of 2001, the company has embarked on an ambitious programme for a vast and systematic expansion of the glass division," the spokesman says. "The initial investment in glass-processing equipment included the UAE's most sophisticated double-glazing line with dual robotised secondary sealant applicator, followed by the installation and commissioning of the laminating line, which covers dimensions up to 2,500 mm by 4,500 mm.
"To complement these machines, Al Abbar invested in a new-generation bending and tempering plant that manufactures bent glass without the use of moulds, for thicknesses ranging from 6 mm to 15 mm. The further addition of a new heat soak testing oven only shows the overall commitment from Al Abbar to support the market in its quest for quality products."
All AAG's manufacturing processes are governed under a strict ISO 9001 regime, where all individual processes are tested under the stringent and relevant CEN standards, he says.
"The ambition of the Al Abbar Architectural Glass is to become totally self-sufficient and cement its leadership in the glass industry," the spokesman adds.
