Architects and curtain-walling specialists seeking to reconcile aesthetic considerations with demands for high performance and durability in their sealant specification are being offered a new service by UK-based Tremco Limited.
The company says specifiers can now order its Dymonic NT low modulus, elastomeric polyurethane sealant in any RAL colour, enabling the physically versatile product to be blended or contrasted with the substrate.
Dynomic NT has a proven track record in forming effective joints between most types of construction materials, says a spokesman for the company. "Significantly, there is no minimum order size, thanks to the sophisticated pigment technology employed by Tremco, enabling the manufacturer to supply a single six-litre container, if required," he says. "Consequently, customers who cannot find the colour they want within the extensive standard range can instead opt to pay a one-off ($313) mixing charge, per colour, per order.
"The produced-to-order RAL colours are supplied by Tremco in a separate tint pot to be mixed with the base material using a slow speed drill. All joint design criteria and application characteristics remain in accordance with BS 6093."
Dymonic NT is said to exhibit excellent unprimed adhesion to the majority of commonly-used construction materials such as concrete, stone, brickwork, aluminium, steel, timber and even rigid plastic. The product offers a rapid moisture cure and can accommodate structural movement from +100 per cent to -50 per cent, he points out.
"Contractors are able to utilise Dymonic NT to fill joints as large as 100 mm in width and be assured the cured product will form an effective seal, offering enduring resistance to the elements. Furthermore, ultraviolet radiation does not affect the colour-fastness nor the physical performance of Dymonic NT," says the company.
Tremco Technical Advisory Service is able to provide consultants and contractors with help in colour matching, design detailing and all other aspects of product specification.
