Eco-Set helps slash water wastage

Grohe's new Eco-Set system offers enhanced water savings in households and public facilities.

Water saving systems are increasingly being sought after in the Middle East, an area of the world where water resources are perhaps in the shortest supply.

The importance of water saving capabilities in sanitary fittings is being seen by industry experts as one of the chief ways to reduce wasteful consumption. And flushing systems are among the major sources of water waste in households and public facilities.

German water technology giant Grohe says its Eco-Set offers an answer to the challenge facing the region. The Eco-Set is a flushing system offering maximum flexibility to the user, and great potential for savings, says the company.

Grohe says its features, which are in several ways similar to its popular Servo-Set, offers new and additional benefits. According to Grohe, some of the benefits of Eco-Set are:

  • The discharge valve has a double function, whereas the filling valve is completely silent.

  • The floater on the filling valve enables the full-flush volume in the cistern to be adjusted between 6 and 9 litres.

  • The half-flush can be adjusted between 3 and 4.5 litres.

  • The dual flush discharge valve has a three-in-one feature: the full flush, half-flush and interruptible flush.

  • Three different actuation buttons - of diameters 16-35mm, 40 mm and 50 mm - to fit all sanitary ware types.

  • The Eco-Set also comes in a version containing copper tubing for bottom inlet cisterns.

    Grohe says that with Eco-Set, the interruptible flush is pre-adjusted to ensure that, for optimal hygiene purposes, the minimum flush volume is 3 litres of water. It is also possible to re-flush using the water remaining in the cistern, if the knob is kept depressed.

    "Plumbers will find the Eco-Set to be an installation-friendly unit. The system is ergonomic while the actuation button has such a unique design that has applied for its patent registration," says a company spokesman.

    "The Eco-Set complies with the CSTB requirements, and it has a quality standard of ISO 9001. Keeping in line with ecological themes such as water saving, the Eco-Set's components are made of recyclable material - that is, it does not contain polyvinyl chloride (PVC)".

    The Eco-Set flushing mechanism allows up to 60 per cent water savings at the WC per household, the spokesman adds.
