INTERMAT, the largest exhibition in France and the second largest construction sector exhibition worldwide, is set to make its regional debut in Abu Dhabi from March 28 to 30, 2011.
The Middle East edition of the international exhibition for machinery, materials and equipment for construction and infrastructure, Intermat Middle East is expected to attract between 150 to 200 exhibitors and more than 7,000 visitors when it opens alongside Arabian Construction Week 2011.
Maryvonne Lanoë, Intermat exhibition manager, comments: “We decided to organise the event in Abu Dhabi as at the last event held in Paris, over 80 per cent visitors from the Middle East requested us to organise a similar event closer to them.
“Abu Dhabi is the perfect choice to host the Middle East edition of Intermat. The city is expanding rapidly and the infrastructure projects and developments here are truly world class. This provides the perfect backdrop for the world’s construction industry to showcase their services and products.”
Delegates will comprise high-ranking government officials, construction company representatives, local authorities, airport and port authorities, importers, distributors, firms that supply or rent out materials and equipment, and senior executives interested in methods and technology for future construction projects and building efficiency.
The exhibition addresses the need for an event dedicated to construction materials and equipment for the fast growing markets of the region. Intermat Middle East will extend its reach to other countries in the region, including Algeria, Egypt, Iran, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia and Turkey. During the event, attendees have an opportunity to meet international suppliers and constructors that can provide solutions to meet their infrastructure and construction equipment needs.
Exhibiting organisations at show are Liebherr, Hyundai, Al Wasit Machinery, Doosan Heavy Industries, Doosan-Bobcat, Kanoo Group, Manitowoc, Potain, Schwing-Stetter, Al Laith Scaffolding, Orbit, Pega, Cattaneo, Mitas, Platform Basket, Sunward, Tuckerbilt, Yongmao, HIFI Filter, ArcGen Hilta, Rapid, Locatelli, Tum-Mak, Goldola, United Machinery and Equipment, Halco Rock Tools, BV Beko and Jura Filtration, among others.
Some of the dealers include Al Wasit (Hyundai), Bin Brook (Doosan and Scania) and Famco (Volvo). The exhibition will also feature national pavilions from France, Turkey, China and Italy.
Some of the new products to be launched will come from two manufacturers of anti-collision systems – Ascorel and Smie – which will also be addressing safety issues at a conference to run parallel to the event.
Christopher Hudson, managing director of Mecom Forums, a Clarion Events partner, said: “Intermat is a world renowned exhibition in the construction sector and is the perfect complement to Arabian Construction Week.”
