Twyford builds on Mideast network

Twyford of the UK continues to reinforce itself in the Gulf , backed by a first-class product range and its network of agents and distributors in the region, many of which have been working with the firm for more than 25 years.

Faced with an increasingly competitive marketplace, Twyford continues to work hard to maintain its market share in the Gulf region. One of its chief assets is the stability of its distribution, it says.

''Sarieddine in Abu Dhabi and the Faraidooni Corporation in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, in the UAE, W J Towell in Oman and Shebib in Qatar are good examples of companies which have worked with Twyford in partnership for several years,'' says a spokesman for the company. "Sarieddine has been the Twyford agent in Abu Dhabi for more than 10 years now. The others mentioned have distributed Twyford in their markets for more than 25 years, and all display an enviable loyalty to their principals. This is a tribute to the spirit of close co-operation over a long period of time between the two parties."

He continues: ''This is not enough, of course. You need the right products in the first place and Twyford's brand image is built on the excellence of its product offerings both in terms of range content and quality.

''New product launches are vital and last year's introductions of back-to-wall/wall-hung variants of Royale and the new Entice suite have been very positively received. More launches are expected this year to keep the Twyford brand in its rightful position as the first choice of the professional."

Changes are afoot in Saudi Arabia. Twyford has announced it has decided to work with Orbit as its new distributor. Orbit's reputation is currently based on ceramic tiles of which it promotes and distributes some of the most prestigious brands in the world. The range of tiles and designs on offer in its beautifully furbished showrooms in Jeddah, Riyadh and Khobar is impressive, the spokesman comments.

By co-operating with the firm, Twyford hopes to target the residential and private villa sector in Saudi Arabia. Preparation work is well advanced in training Orbit's sales force, planning showroom displays and putting stock in place. Careful business planning is necessary to ensure that promotional, marketing and sales campaigns through Orbit hit the right target and are backed up with the right service levels, he says.

"Twyford, as always professional in its approach, recognises this very clearly," he emphasises. "How seriously it takes the opportunities in the Saudi market is proved by the fact that its training manager, Terry Woolliscroft and regional export manager Richard Robards recently spent a full week in Saudi Arabia training up Orbit's excellent sales force. They are now fully fired up and ready to go.''

This is just another example of how hard Twyford has worked over the years to maintain its strong position in the Gulf," the spokesman concludes.
