Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA), the largest industrial company in the UAE outside oil and gas, has announced that work has begun on its new aluminium recycling plant at Al Taweelah located in the Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad).
The 170,000-tonne-per-annum facility is coming up next to EGA’s smelter and once completed in 2026, it will become the largest aluminium recycling plant in the UAE.
EGA said the plant will process post-consumer aluminium scrap such as used window frames, as well as pre-consumer aluminium scrap from extrusion production, into low-carbon, high quality premium aluminium billets.
The new facility will supply local and global markets with low carbon metal under the product name RevivAL, it stated.
Most of the aluminium scrap generated in the UAE is currently exported for processing outside the country.
