ADC Energy Systems has won a design-and-build contract for two district cooling plants at Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi.

The contact was awarded by Paragon ABD Cooling, the project company set up as a joint venture between Dalkia Utilities and Arcapita for the district cooling plants concession on Saadiyat Island.

The Saadiyat project is one of the Middle East’s largest cooling operations with three plants providing a combined capacity of 50,000 tonnes of refrigeration (177 MW) and serving an area of 27 sq km. Two of the plants will be completed by the latter part of 2012, while the third, in Saadiyat Beach District, will be completed in 2016.

Saadiyat Island is being developed by Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC).
