Industrial technology to the fore
MAKINAT Saudi Arabia 2011, the international trade exhibition for industrial machinery, machine tools, equipment and technology for Saudi Arabia, will be held at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Centre from November 28 to December 1 this year.
Saudi Arabia has emerged as a lucrative destination for industrial machinery with total imports valued at around $15 billion annually. Industrial investments have reached $37.70 billion in 2010, up from $24.57 billion in 2009, further creating exciting business opportunities for industrial machinery manufacturers.
Kamil Al Jawhari, project manager of Makinat Saudi Arabia, said the show will add momentum to the growth of the industrial sector by creating a definitive venue to discuss business opportunities and to showcase the latest technological advances, state-of-the-art machineries and best practices in the industrial sector.
Shedding light on green trends
LIGHT ME, a leading trade show and conference for lighting design and technology, will capture worldwide trends in the use of environment-friendly lighting alternatives such as CFL and LED technology when it opens this month in Dubai (September 12 to 14).
The event, to be held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, is being organised by Epoc Messe Frankfurt.
“LED and CFL technology as a greener alternative is being increasingly employed in many of the large-scale infrastructure projects in the region like The Yas Hotel, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and the upcoming Dubai Waterfront,” said Ahmed Pauwels, chief executive officer of Epoc Messe Frankfurt. “Awareness of the need for energy conservation is spreading across the Middle East and leading to great demand. Light Middle East enables the majors in global lighting solutions to easily research and tap into this promising market.”
230 sign up for paint show
AS MANY AS 230 companies from 17 countries have so far signed up for the fourth PaintExpo, which will be held from April 17 to 20 next year at the Karlsruhe Exhibition Centre in Karlsruhe, Germany.
Billed as the leading fair for coating technology, the event will cover all aspects of the sector from pre-treatment right through to quality control.
“Regardless of the industry sector for which metals, plastics, glass, wood and other materials need to be coated, there is strong demand for improved efficiency, quality and ecology,” says a spokesman for FairFair, the organiser. “Increased flexibility is an additional issue while there is demand for painting systems which can be flexibly expanded and set up for various processes. Companies with in-house painting operations and coating job-shops will find solutions to these challenges at the show.”
Materials handling in spotlight
THE logistics and materials handling sector of the region will come under the spotlight at the Materials Handling Middle East 2011, to be held this month (September 25 to 27) at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Dubai, UAE.

Additionally, the exhibition is co-located with TOC Middle East, the conference and exhibition dedicated to cargo owners, shipping lines, terminal operators and the container supply chain.
