
Investors eye $26bn projects
MORE than 5,000 investors, high net-worth individuals, government companies, construction, infrastructure and utility companies attended the Future Makkah 2011 event, seeking to capitalise on over SR100 billion ($26.66 billion) government expenditure for projects encompassing infrastructure, utilities, investment, financing, real estate and tourism sectors.
Future Makkah, the Makkah international urban and infrastructure development event, was organised to support the Makkah Development Plan, providing a dedicated business-to-business networking platform for public and private investment initiatives in the holy city. It was held from June 19 to 21 at the Jeddah Center for Forums and Events under the patronage of Prince Khalid Al Faisal bin Abdulaziz, governor of Makkah Province.
Saudi Energy sets the trend
SAUDI Energy 2011, the 14th international show for electricity, lighting, power generation, water technology, and HVAC for Saudi Arabia, concluded four days of business-to-business networking activities and displayed the latest developments and emerging trends within the buoyant Saudi energy sector.
Held concurrently with the Electricity Efficiency Forum and Saudi Build – The PMV Series 2011 at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Centre from May 29 to June 1, the premier event welcomed more than 300 exhibitors from 19 countries.
Saudi Build – The PMV Series 2011, showcased a premium selection of heavy construction machinery and equipment.
Saudi Energy 2011 included Saudi Elenex, an electrical engineering, power generation and distribution exhibition; Saudi Luminex, a trade show for lighting equipment; Saudi Aircon, an exhibition for the air-conditioning, heating, ventilation and refrigeration sector; and Saudi Water Tech, an expo for water technology, desalination plants and accessories.
Brisk business for Weinig at Ligna
WEINIG, a global leader for machines and systems for solid wood processing, presented more than 30 exhibits, including a large number of innovations and refinements, showcased on a 3,000-sq-m stand at Ligna 2011, the leading sectoral trade fair held from May 30 to June 3 in Hanover, Germany.
“Our full range of products and services for industrial and artisan applications is unique in the market and was rewarded in Hanover with strong demand and good sales figures,” said Weinig’s CEO, Wolfgang Pöschl.
Weing was enthused by the increased number of decision-makers at Ligna 2011 and the high quality of visitors overall. Around 160 machines and systems were sold at the trade fair across the whole group. Weinig expects brisk follow-up business after the fair.
