Dow displays green focus

DOW’S Advanced Materials Division (AMD), a division of The Dow Chemical Company, was at the fifth Annual Cost-Effective Sustainable Design & Construction Middle East conference, held in May (22 to 25) in Abu Dhabi to show its strong support for the UAE’s landmark efforts to both promote and legislate sustainability as an integral practice within the country’s growing building and construction sector.

At the event, Dr Ilham Kadri, general manager for AMD Mena (Middle East and North Africa) region, spoke on ‘Science for a Sustainable World’, in which he focused on sustainability, the challenges humanity faced and solutions proposed by Dow. From providing clean water to making renewable energy a reality, Dow is investing in research and development to help address these challenges. He, however, emphasised sustainability couldn’t be achieved without collaboration.

At the forum, AMD showed some of its specialty solutions in a custom-designed booth. These included Ropaque, a Dow Coating Materials offering to help paint and coatings customers save costs and offer end-users a sustainability profile; reverse osmosis technology, Styrofoam brand insulation; and cool reflective roof coatings (CRRC), a renewable roofing system that offers reduced energy usage and reduced surface temperatures.
