THE BD1-billion ($2.7 billion) Water Garden City on the Manama coast in Bahrain – dubbed the ‘capital of the capital’ – has been given the go-ahead by the Manama Municipal Council.

Developer Al Bilad Real Estate Investment Company believes the development could spark a new construction boom, with opportunities aplenty for designers, contractors and related-industries.
Leading investors have come forward to work with Al Bilad as partners to develop the 600,000-sq-m project, located to the north of Bahrain City Centre, Seef. Ninety per cent of the land reclamation has been completed  and a contract has been awarded to a company to build a quay wall. It is expected to feature a public marina and up to 100 multi-storey buildings.
