KUWAIT-BASED Gulf Holding Company (GHC) has marked a milestone by completing the ‘topping out’ of tower B at its Villamar @ the Harbour project on schedule, with progress being made on the other structural work needed to complete the tower, as well.
Currently, work is progressing non-stop on all construction levels of the $650-million Villamar development at the Bahrain Financial Harbour in Bahrain, which boasts three twisting towers.
Steve Flanagan, project director, said: “The completion of tower B means that we have successfully finished one of the most important structural construction phases of Villamar, while continuing to conclude the other phases.”
Elaborating on the tower’s components, Flanagan said: “Tower B is approximately 160 m high, consists of 43 floors and boasts a total of 215 units comprising 53 one-bedroom, 119 two-bedroom, and 34 three-bedroom apartments and six four-bedroom penthouses, as well as two duplexes, in addition to a super penthouse.”
Commenting on the significance of Tower B, Flanagan said: “With its assorted mix of residential units in the region, the three towers together rise to a total exceeding 620 m. Thus, this will make a definitive statement in the residential segment of the real estate market, which is in line with GHC’s real estate architectural concept Signature Series.
During a media tour of the development, site engineers Awwad Husainieh and Flanagan elaborated on the various facets of the development and specifically commented on the modifications introduced by the company on the usage of its towers: “We have obtained the permit for the usage of tower C, which is designed to accommodate a hotel and fully serviced apartments. The same tower is also expected to accommodate a mixture of over 500 hotel rooms and fully serviced apartments, in addition to a number of recreational facilities.”
Senior GHC officials said work on the project, which is to be fully completed by the last quarter of 2011, was being supervised by five dedicated international quality control engineering consultancies. GHC is also in talks to assign marketing to a dedicated international firm with the option of directly marketing the development through a dedicated office managed by GHC.
