RIYADH-based ceramics manufacturer Saudi Ceramic Company (SCC) will return to The Big 5 this year with several innovations it has added to its collection during 2009.
These include around 10 new designs for tiles and four bathroom suites, which have all been designed by leading European design houses, and two new electric heaters – the 10-litre and the 300-litre models.
A regular participant at the show, SCC is also looking forward to meet its customers at the event and outline its growth strategy for the future. The company is in the midst of a major expansion programme, which will eventually boost the capacities of all its factories.
SCC is one of the oldest and leading ceramic companies in the Middle East, manufacturing and marketing ceramic wall, porcelain and floor tiles, vitreous china sanitary ware, ceramic road markers and electric water heaters.
Its current total production capacity stands at 32 million sq m of ceramic and porcelain tiles; 2 million pieces of sanitary ware; and 1.5 million units of electric water heaters.
Over the past five years, SCC has expanded its production capacities for all its product groups, using state-of-the-art technologies to maintain a high level of quality and productivity. It has seen the number of factories under its fold grow from five to nine over the past year. These comprise a sanitary ware factory, three tile factories, two electric water heater factories, two frit factories and one dry grinding plant.
Under the current expansion phase which covers both the sanitary ware and the tile factories, SCC will see its ceramic tiles production boosted to 50 million sq m by the end of next year.
The expansion is expected to meet the demand for its products in the local and export markets.
“We are also constantly working on product development by introducing new designs as well as improving our quality through the use of high-tech innovations,” says Abdulkarim Al Nafie, the company’s CEO.
SCC supplies to almost all private and large government projects such as school projects, hospitals and universities.
Commenting on the demand for its products, Al Nafie says: “We have made good progress in both the local and export markets this year and we expect that our sales will grow next year.”
Established in 1977 in Riyadh and with a sales office in Dubai, SCC has 3,300 staff and registered a turnover of SR857 million ($228.5 million) last year. Its factories are located in the Second Industrial City South, east of Riyadh. The company’s stand at The Big 5 will be in Rashid Hall D-161.
