
ABU DHABI Municipality has awarded Al Jaber Group a Dh205-million ($55-million) infrastructure contract for the three phases of Bawabat Al Sharq project.
Bawabat Al Sharq is a master community located in Bani Yas City at near proximity to the Abu Dhabi International Airport on the road to Al Ain. It is being developed by Baniyas Investment & Development Company, the investment arm of Baniyas Sports Club.
Al Jaber Group will be responsible for executing all infrastructure works of the project including road works, services, electrical, water, sewage and drainage networks and landscaping. Infrastructure works on Bawabat Al Sharq have started and will be completed in June 2012.
Spread over 108 hectares, the Dh3-billion ($816.7-million) Bawabat Al Sharq is a mix of modern residential, retail, entertainment and sporting facilities, comprising premium apartments, villas, healthcare facilities, an international school, a Fifa-standard football stadium with a seating capacity of more than 20,000 spectators and a mall that will include 339 retail outlets of fashion wear, electronics, neighbourhood services, accessory outlets, jewellers in addition to a Carrefour hypermarket, Wanasa Family Entertainment Centre and Grand Cinemas. The mall will also feature Souk Al Megnas, a traditional suq covering 4,500 sq m.
