PF Emirates furnishes Ferrari park
PF EMIRATES says it played a key role in creating a truly Italian feel at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, a new theme park that recently opened in Abu Dhabi.
The company, a joint venture between Abu Dhabi’s Mubadala Development Company and the Poltrona Frau Group of Italy, says it has worked with developer Aldar to furnish the theme park to exact Ferrari standards, including the 217-seat Ferrari theatre, the restaurants, the VIP lounges, as well as elegant function rooms for private and corporate functions.
The stunning furnishings supplied to the theme park are the work of the companies of the Poltrona Frau Group, including Cassina, Cappellini, Poltrona Frau and Thonet. The furnishings comprise timeless classics by renowned designers and architects, such as the LC3 by Le Corbusier, Reef and Note by Piero Lissoni, Kennedee, Aster X by Jean Marie Massaud, and the iconic executive furniture collection designed by Lella & Massimo Vignelli.
Midea-Elapco in green drive
MIDEA, a major manufacturer of domestic appliances and air-conditioning based in China, has signed an exclusive marketing and distribution agreement with Elapco, a leading air-conditioning distributor in the UAE, Iraq and Sudan, to make available its green compliant energy-efficient line of air-conditioners for these markets. “Through this agreement, we will continue our effort to expand our green line to newer markets. We choose to work very closely with Elapco and provide them with our entire range of CAC (central air-conditioning) solutions with the most advanced technology available today,” said Peter Guan, Midea HVAC president.
Empower eyes $125m in revenues
AHMED Bin Shafar Empower, a leading district cooling service provider in the region, is optimistic of achieving revenues of Dh460 million ($125 million) for fiscal year 2010, an increase of 27 per cent compared with 2009. “This major feat in the district cooling industry in the region reflects our success in diversifying our client base and adopting best practices in managing our operations by diminishing costs and retaining employees across the board,” said Ahmed Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower.
Metito to build treatment plant
METITO has won a Dh14-million ($3.8-million) deal with National Bonds Corporation in a major initiative to improve water conservation in the UAE.
Under the agreement, Metito, a leading provider of total intelligent water management and solutions in the emerging markets, will construct, operate and maintain a 2,000-cu-m-a-day sewage treatment plant that will treat sewage collected from the six-building Skycourts complex on the Dubai-Al Ain Road.
National Bond’s Skycourts development consists of 2,800 apartments and will feature outdoor swimming pools, a health club, gymnasium, 24-hour security, cafes, restaurants and supermarkets.
The plant, expected to be completed in April this year, will be developed using the latest in advanced odour control systems, to lessen the impact on the environment. Metito will utilise advanced SBR (sequencing batch reactor) technology in the treatment of the effluent, an alternative method of wastewater treatment that sees wastewater processed to a high quality suitable for non-restricted irrigation, as per Dubai Municipality standards.
Ritchie Bros holds record auction
A RECORD 760-plus bidders registered for an unreserved industrial equipment auction held by Ritchie Bros, featuring 1,650 used and unused equipment items. The three-day auction by one of the world’s largest industrial auctioneers was held last month at its auction site in Dubai, UAE.
Bidders registered to bid on a large variety of heavy equipment items and trucks, both on site and online in real time through www.rbauction.com, which witnessed the most number of bidders ever registered at that site. Items featured included 56 hydraulic excavators, 58 wheel loaders, 27 articulated dumptrucks, 33 crawler tractors, 25 cranes, 26 rock trucks, 23 pipelayers, 35 truck tractors, rollers, asphalt pavers, trenchers, lifts, motor graders, generators sets and many other equipment items and trucks used in the construction, mining and transportation industries.
Saudi firm wins $52m UAE deal
SAUDI Arabia’s Mohammad Al-Mojil Group has signed a SR197-million ($52.5 million) contract with South Korea’s Hyundai Engineering and Construction Company to build an engine oil factory in Abu Dhabi. Construction will start next month with the project scheduled for completion in December 2012.
$169m contracts for Arabtec
ARABTEC has won contracts worth Dh623 million ($169.6 million) to build two residential projects in Abu Dhabi and a staff accommodation building in Fujairah. The Dh552-million ($150.3-million) towers project is expected to be completed in two years.
