SAIE 2008, the leading construction trade show of Italy, will have energy conservation in the construction sector, from products to processes, as its leading theme and include an all-new specialised exhibition SAIEnergia.
Organised by BolognaFiere in association with Sistema Integrato SAIE, the four-day show will be held from October 15 to 18 at Bologna, Italy.
Under the banner “Building Energy”, the new thematic exhibition will focus on energy efficiency and renewable energy in the context of the largest trade fair for the Italian construction industry, says a spokesman for the organiser.
For over 40 years, SAIE has been a platform for the best in technological innovations and construction culture and served as a meeting point for all operators in the production cycle to discuss and examine projects, technologies, and systems created under the aegis of innovation, says the spokesman.
“SAIE 2008 – entitled “Building the future” – presents an extensive exhibition array with halls dedicated to strategic sectors,” says the spokesman. “The halls will include LaterSaie – focusing on bricklaying innovation and construction technology; Saie Precast Technologies – on pre-fabrication machinery and technology; SaieBit – which will host service companies as well as those producing computer systems for construction and design; SaieLegno – dedicated to wood construction, structures and components, and finally this year’s new addition, SAIEnergia.
Located in the new pavilions 14 and 15, SAIEnergia will bring the topics of renewable energy and energy efficiency to the forefront.
“The focus of the new SAIEnergia hall is to create a direct connection between the world of energy and that of construction, by promoting initiatives. The exhibition will also feature SAIEnergia Forum, organised by Mario Cucinella, which will serve as a meeting point for operators from the entire production cycle,” says the spokesman. “The exhibition will also present innovative solutions in using renewable resources for heating and cooling; energy savings and certification; and energy recovery and re-qualification.
The exhibition will also include several conferences that will focus on “Construction regulations and energy savings”, “Energy efficiency in existing buildings: from historic town centres to the suburbs”, “Energy in Architecture”, “The photovoltaic market”, and “Energy efficiency in construction. Standards, incentives and technologies”.
Following last year’s success New Materials Space will make a return this year. Furnished by Material ConneXion, the event will focus on materials and innovative technologies linked to the topic of energy and sustainable construction. Also returning this year will be Selezione Novità SAIE 2008, a guide to SAIE 2008 innovations, which will be a compilation of the most significant innovations on display.
This year’s exhibition space has been boosted with two new pavilions 14 and 15 located in a new, split-level structure. The expo centre also will now include a multi-floor parking structure with 2,500 covered parking spaces.
Last year’s SAIE covered a total of 260,000 sq m of exhibition space, of which 180,000 was covered and attracted 1,750 exhibitors, of which 350 were international companies.
Of the 178,250 visitors recorded last year, 7,530 were from overseas, the spokesman for the organiser concludes.
