Turkey’s Kaleseramik, which last year introduced what it claimed was the lightest, thinnest and largest ceramic tile in the world, has now boosted this line’s range by offering a glossy option along with the glazed surface finish in 15 new colourways.
The new glossy option in the Kalesinterflex porcelain ceramic tile range is also available in the largest dimensions of 0.5 m by 3 m, according a spokesman for the Turkish ceramics manufacturer, which is a business arm of the Kale Group.
Kalesinterflex tiles are designed to provide immense flexibility in floor and wall combinations for residential and commercial projects. And as they are only 5 mm thick, the tiles can be used on both facades and floors of buildings.
Kaleseramik utilised its 50 years of experience in the field, combining innovative technology, research and trend-setting skills to produce Kalesinterflex, which has already helped create aesthetically-appealing modern living spaces and given flexibility in implementing new ideas in design.
The product boasts a host of advantages including light weight, flexibility, durability and easy workability. With its range of colours, patterns and good impact resistance, Kalesinterflex lets architects and designers give flight to their imagination.
Elaborating on these features, the spokesman says: “With Kalesinterflex, loads on buildings are reduced, thanks to the lightness of these ceramic tiles, which weigh in at just 7 kg per square metre. When compared to the weight of a ceramic slab at 16 kg, a granite tile at 20 to 30 kg and compact laminate at 12 to 18 kg per sq m, it is clear that Kalesinterflex, offers the least load values as a surface covering.”
“At 3 m long and with a radius of 5.5 m, Kalesinterflex is probably the most versatile ceramic tile on the market,” he continues.
“Kalesinterflex also offers dimensional freedom, thanks to its workable structure, which allows it to be cut easily with ceramic and glass cutters. The slabs can easily be drilled and cut into any desired dimension, and it is also compatible with mechanical constructions.
“One of Kalesinterflex’s innovative features is its translucent texture, which makes it suitable for partitions as well as decorative panels, when light is shone through it.
“Kalesinterflex is also durable and practical for interiors such as walls and floors in building construction as well as in exteriors, since it can be easily cleaned and is resistant to fire, stain, chemicals, discoloration and varying climate conditions. It is an ideal cladding material in commercial buildings for partitions, floor and wall coverings for hospitals and food manufacturing industries, in hygienic areas such as kitchen and laboratory counters and also for modular construction systems.”
Kalesinterflex is made of natural materials such as clay, kaolin and feldspar, and the production process utilises breakthrough environmentally-friendly technology from Italy.
“Kaleseramik joined hands with Italy’s System Ceramic not merely for the new production technology but to also exchange and enhance industry know-how,” says the spokesman.
As the manufacturing process uses electricity rather than petroleum-based fuels, gas and dust emissions are 20 times lower while carbon emissions are almost 1,000 times lower than those in traditional ceramic production processes, the spokesman explains.
Meanwhile, Kaleseramik is currently working with Turkey’s leading universities on two projects as part of its product development scheme. This apart, technical and design studies are under way for using Kalesinterflex ceramics in kitchen and bathroom furniture, following which the new range will soon be launched on the market under Kale Plus brand name.
With a capacity of 3,000 sq m per day – with three shifts producing 1,000 cm by 3,000 cm by 3 cm Kalesinterflex tiles and in 15 colour alternatives (glazed and glossy surfaces) – Kaleseramik can produce a wide range of tiles to suit the requirements of various projects.
Kalesinterflex is offered in standard dimensions of 100 cm by 300 cm, 100 cm by 100 cm, 50 cm by 150 cm, 20 cm by 150 cm, 50cm by 50 cm, 50 cm by 100 cm and 5 cm by 100 cm.
Established in Turkey in 1957 with the opening of its first ceramic tile factory, the Kale Group holds a key position in the world’s building industries business, with 24 affiliate companies which are staffed by more than 5,000 employees.
