Stahl CraneSystems FZE has relocated into its new premises in Jebel Ali Free Zone in Dubai and commenced operations with a renewed focus on maintaining its leadership in the construction markets of the Middle East.

The company, a former division of R Stahl Ex-Proof Middle East, is a major player in the regional crane and hoist business.
A subsidiary of Germany’s Stahl CraneSystems, the Dubai operation has adopted a business model based on a competitive supply chain. While hoists and other crane components are directly imported from Germany, steel structures such as crane bridges or runways are fabricated by Fabtech, its partner company. The crane systems are assembled locally, delivered to customers, installed and tested by third party inspection companies.
Around 150 engineered bridge cranes on average per year are manufactured according to this operational model, according to says Viswanathan Raman, managing director of Stahl CraneSystems FZE.
Stahl CraneSystems has been focussing its export activities on various hot spots of the global economy such as China, India, South East Asia and the Middle East over the past two decades and established a subsidiary in Dubai a number of years ago to cash in on the growing construction boom in the region, he says.
“The marketing activities in the UAE over the past few years has resulted in a significant increase of business, which was mainly driven by growing demand of engineering companies and A&E (architecture and engineering),” says Raman.
“Our company has a number of international mega projects, which is mainly thanks to our highly skilled engineers and versatile product configurations that include explosion-protection. We have worked in the regional construction market segment with engineering companies from all over world,” he adds.
Stahl hoists and cranes have been supplied to a number of prestigious engineering projects and construction sites across the Middle East including the Burj Dubai, Dolphin, Tareer, Yanbu oilfields, QatarGas debottlenecking, Al Khaleej Gas, Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC), Saudi Aramco, Kuwait Olefins, Oryx GTL, Common Cooling Water Phase I & II, Rasgas and many others. It has provided several explosion-proof 70-tonne cranes also to various project sites in the region.
