Mabani Steel, a new start-up manufacturer of pre-engineered steel buildings (PEBs), is currently building a campus in Ras Al Khaimah on a 125,000 sq m site that will include a head office and factory administration buildings, three factory units and three camp buildings.
“We are the first PEB manufacturer in this region to build all our facilities in one phase to enable us to grow from a start-up to full capacity production at a much faster rate than was achieved by any of our predecessors,” says Muayyad Khudairi, president of Mabani Steel. “Although we will begin production next January, we will be able to reach our planned capacity production of 6,000 tonnes per month by May 2007 putting us on par with our largest competitors. This is because all the covered building space, office space, equipment and material handling systems, etc. that are required for capacity production will be in place well in time.”
The company’s new state-of-the-art facility will be equipped with two high-capacity beam auto welders, two shot blasters, two fully-automated painting machines, one shear, one plasma-cutting machine and plate processing machinery. A vast range of sophisticated material handling systems is currently being installed at the facility.
The company is determined to set higher standards in product quality, response time, sales transparency and project management services and hence is introducing for the first time in the region several innovations in engineering, customer service and quality control, says Khudairi.
The firm, an Al Rajhi Investment Group company which is one of the largest and most diversified business groups in the GCC, has purchased its engineering software from MBS (Metal Building Software), a US-based software developer that has one product only: for the design and detailing of PEBs. The software is used by more than a 100 PEB manufacturers worldwide and it complies with all the latest US codes that are applicable to the design and manufacture of PEBs, he says.
Mabani Steel claims to be the only high-capacity PEB manufacturer in this region to be using the MBS Software.
Because of its high initial production capacity and its sophisticated ultra-fast engineering software, Mabani Steel promises to process and deliver jobs in eight weeks or less starting with jobs released for production in January. For selected projects in the GCC, it will include the erection of its PEBs within its scope to meet the fast-track requirements of customers who demand a single responsibility for the supply and erection of PEBs.
Mabani Steel is all set to receive RFQs (requests for quotation) immediately after the Eid (approximate November 1) and welcomes inquiries from owners, consultants, general contractors and specialised PEB contractors, with a promise to provide prompt quotations accompanied with clear and comprehensive proposal drawings.
