Sliding hardware meets demands

The new system features a continuous profile and trendy surface finishes.

Swiss sliding hardware specialist Hawa has launched a new sliding system for all-glass doors that matches the latest trends for a techno look imparted by stainless steel in residential and office interiors.

The new system features a continuous profile and trendy surface finishes, neatly encapsulating the contemporary spirit, quality and cost-efficiency of the product.
“The new sliding hardware system with its appealing flexibility offers inspiration for planners, interior designers and installers alike,” says a company spokesman. “With comprehensive accessories from the best-selling Hawa-Junior family, there is wide platform to select from for any number of individual solutions, including stationary glazing,” he adds.
Hawa-Junior 40/GL and Hawa-Junior 80/GL come with top tracks, angle profiles and concealment covers in plain anodised or stainless steel effect finishes that match perfectly with any contemporary setting and are aesthetically appealing with their pleasingly straight lines.
“And of course, the highly reliable Hawa-Junior sliding door engineering also makes a convincing, if unseen, contribution,” he adds.
Both door glass retention profiles disappear behind a slim, continuous concealment profile. Down at floor level, a rattle-proof bottom guide ensures quiet running and holds doors steady in draughts. The well-known Hawa-Junior stopper technique with adjustable holding force to match the door weight provides a bonus in terms of convenience and ease of use, the spokesman says.
The new sliding door system is available for doors as wide as 1,200 mm and weighing up to 80 kg.

Room partitioning system
“Hawa’s new system, with its extensive range of accessories, meets today’s needs for high-quality, cleverly-devised solutions at an acceptable price. With top track sets available in various standard lengths and the option to incorporate stationary glazing, Hawa-Junior GL is not only an exceptionally user-friendly and trendy sliding door system, it is also an individually deployable room partitioning system,” the spokesman points out. “In this case, glazing panels are simply inserted in the stationary glazing channel that runs along the track, making glass cutouts unnecessary. A flush or surface-mounted wall or floor-fixing glass retention profile provides rigidity. Profiled rubber or silicone seals stop moisture penetrating between the glass and the track. The top track set also includes a clip-fit cover profile that closes off the stationary glazing channel across the width of the door aperture – a visually pleasing and straightforward solution.”
Turning to their operation efficiency and top quality finish, he says: “Engineered for long service life, Hawa-Junior moving parts are extremely quiet running and guarantee a light sliding action. They have been in longstanding, continuous use all over the world, proving their quality day after day. Standard parts in the most popular anodised finishes are available ex stock from Hawa and ensure good price/performance ratio.
“Expensive, custom surface finishing is largely superfluous with the Hawa-Junior GL system. But Hawa also supplies unfinished concealment covers on customer request, so there is still an option for those who prefer their own surface finishes for specific jobs.”
A comprehensive range of accessories gives creative freedom to planners, who can choose from the entire Hawa-Junior selection. The Hawa-Toplock with a rectangular cover plate and wall connection profile matches the Hawa-Junior GL design just as neatly as the wall fixing angle profile for other Junior models. The profile provides a clever, low-cost option for wall fixing that avoids use of concealment covers, he says.

Ease of assembly
“When it comes to putting the system together, Hawa-Junior GL wins hands down for the positive fitting between glass and hardware. The patented dry glazing system requires only some simple drilling in the glass. Yet even under maximum load, the positive fitting glass securing arrangement (patent applied for) ensures lasting dependability in use. That applies to the door suspension just as much as to the high-quality Hawa-Toplock, specially developed for all-glass doors. It accepts both 17 mm profile cylinders and 22 mm round cylinders, and can be installed for both left and right-hand closing,” he says.
The aluminium profile covering the glass retention profile secures with patented clip-on rubber fixings. Hawa thus resolves two issues at once: clip-on fixing for maximum ease of assembly, plus a rubber seal to stop moisture and cleaning agents penetrating the glass retention profile.
“Assembly and height adjustment are straightforward, convenient, on-site procedures, performed with a screwdriver from the front to avoid the possibility of damaging the top track,” says the spokesman.
“The Hawa Junior 40/GL and 80/GL from the Swiss sliding hardware specialist are yet another technically and aesthetically coordinated total solution for all-glass sliding doors with continuous profile,” he adds.
Established in 1965, the Switzerland-based enterprise has grown over the years into a 104-member strong company exporting about 80 per cent of its production. Hawa’s core competence rests in the manufacture of high-quality sliding systems and it manufactures a long list of products that includes sliding hardware systems for glass/metal construction, wood construction, and furniture. The company has more than 60 patents worldwide.
