
Governor Prince Abdul Majeed, who is also chairman of the region's water and sewage department, has approved the award of 13 water and sewage projects worth SR500 million ($133.32 million) to national companies.
The projects are in Makkah, Jeddah and Taif. A sewage pumping station and pipelines to the Makkah sewage treatment plant estimated to cost SR72.97 million has been awarded to Abduljadayel Contracting and Maintenance Establishment. Other projects include a SR137.11 million deal for a sewage treatment plant in Makkah with a capacity of 3,000 cu m of water daily awarded to Bin Jarallah Trading and Contracting Establishment.
Contract inked for Dammam complex
Dammam: Eastern Province Governor Prince Muhammad bin Fahd has signed an SR18 million ($4.80 million) contract for implementing the first phase of the Prince Sultan Complex for Social Education in Dammam. The total cost of the project is estimated at SR35 million. The 21,050 sq m complex will have four buildings, each with three storeys. The project includes an administrative block, a clinic, a games room, a swimming pool and a dining room.
New school jobs awarded
Riyadh: The Royal Commission for Yanbu has awarded contracts for the construction of two new schools to local contractors at a total cost of SR26 million ($7 million). The schools, one for boys and the other for girls, will be completed within 18 months.
The primary school for boys will be built at Haii Al Khaled in Hara-9. The girls school will be located in Hara-5 at Haii Radwa. Both the schools will have the capacity to accommodate 600 students.
Bridge over Leban valley opens
Riyadh: Crown Prince Abdullah, Deputy Premier and Commander of the National Guard, has inaugurated a SR190 million ($50.66 million) suspension bridge west of Riyadh over the Leban valley. The 1,300-m-long bridge, with a 35-m width, has three lanes in both directions. Built at a height of 172 m above the valley, the bridge is believed to be the first of its kind in the Kingdom.
Saso headquarters inaugurated
Riyadh: The SR100 million ($26.66 million) headquarters of the Saudi Arabian Standards Organisation (Saso) and the first phase of Saso's laboratories set up on an area of 200,000 sq m has been opened by Crown Prince Abdullah, Deputy Premier and Commander of the National Guard.
