An operational agreement has been signed for the link-up of the power grids in Yanbu and Madinah. The integration will be completed following the construction of four projects at a cost of SR551 million ($147 million). The projects are:

  • Expansion of a high-tension power station at Madinah and its integration with the Rabigh power station, which has been awarded to Mitsubishi Electric;

  • A 32-km high tension power transmission line of 380 kV capacity between the Madinah plant and a water and power complex located at the Royal Commission. SSTC has been awarded the deal to implement the project;

  • Hitachi Company will construct a high-tension 380 kV power station within the water and power complex in the Royal Commission. It will be linked with the main 115 kV station; and

  • ABB will construct a power network and distribution centre.
